It's pretty sweet. I got the Spartan green Halo 3 version of the xbox
360. Plus I got an extra Spartan green controller from Ebay, so now I
have two of them.

I got a Samsung 226BW 22" widescreen LCD monitor with 2ms refresh &
1680 x 1050 resolution for it. The monitor is huge & awesome and works
fantastic with both my PC and the xbox. I have the PC hooked up to it
with a DVI cable. I have the xbox hooked up to the monitor with a VGA
cable. The vga cable works great. First I set the resolution to 1280 x
758, but that caused the left edge of the picture to be cut off. So
then I switched it to 1280 x 1024 resolution and kept the display type
as widescreen. That works great. Nothing is cut off and the picture is
not distorted. The picture fills my entire screen and It is displayed
in correct proportions on my widescreen monitor. I guess the xbox
internally compensates for my monitor being widescreen so that
everything looks right, including the dashboard, and the games. I got
this monitor for the Xbox 360, but it is so awesome with my PC, I'm
never going back to using a 17" CRT monitor!! There is no motion blur
on this thing and DVD's and games look awesome on it. I totally
recommend it without any reservation! Also, once you turn on the
"magic color" feature of this monitor, the colors are really
brilliant!

I have the xbox 360 connected to my 200 watt Klipsch 2.1 Promedia THX
speakers. They sound really great with the xbox (and playing music
too). The subwoofer is really powerful and is fantastic for
explosions, gun shots, and other things. One time I played a movie
with thunder and lightning in it and it shook my walls, seriously.

As for games, so far I got Halo 2 limited edition, Halo 3 Legendary
edition, and Project Gotham Racing 4. It's great to finally be playing
a new Halo game again (I played Halo 1 on the PC on legendary mode).
At first the gamepad was awkward compared to keyboard & mouse, but I'm
starting to get good with it. I was surprised when the gamepad started
rumbling when I fired the guns. I love it! It goes great with my
subwoofer rumbling & booming at the same time. I never knew the xbox
360 gamepad had rumble. I thought that was just a PS2 thing.

I'm glad to finally be an Xbox 360 gamer.

Welcome to the club!

I'll be interested in hearing what you think of Halo 3 after you've
finished it. Are you going to be getting any other games soon or are
you sticking with just those until you beat them?

I'll be sticking with those 3 games for a while. I'm also going to
eventually buy COD4, Gears of War, Prey, Orange Box, Rainbow Six
Vegas, King Kong, any really great car racing games or ww2 flight
sims, and maybe a couple of fighting games like the latest Soul
Calibur and Street Fighter.

I just got a silver Sony PSP in the mail a few days ago, but I haven't
done a lot with it because I've been playing Halo 2 and I have other
things to do also. But it looks like it has a lot of great games for
it. It came with a Daxter game, but so far I don't like it because I
don't like the game concept of playing a Weasel who kills bugs. But
I'm getting Ghost Rider, Tomb Raider Legends, Tekken Dark
Resurrection, Call of Duty Road of Victory, and King Kong for it.
Those should be great. PSP is by far the best handheld console ever.
The screen is huge and the graphics are really sweet. I still need to
buy some accessories to get the full use out of it.

No way man! The DS and the GBA both kick its ass. The device may have
better graphics and sound but the games are mostly rehashes of console
games.

I purchased the original PSP a few months after the system launched
and have only purchased about 4 games for it, 2 of which I got during
Black Friday sales.

One of the things I really don't like about the system is the
performance. This may be better with the new models since they have
more memory but on my original PSP the performance for most games is
abysmal.

Further, many developers don't do a great job of mapping games that
were designed for 2 analog sticks to a system that has only one analog
sticks. Katamari is a freakin' nightmare on the PSP. Of course, that's
the fault of the developers trying to just do quick ports of popular
games.

I think developers need to focus more effort into creating original
IPs specifically for the PSP or to use existing IPs to create new
experiences that are designed specifically for the PSP.

Until they can do that, the smaller, cheaper, less powerful systems
will continue to rule.

I was tempted to buy an NDS when they made a gold one, but then I
looked on Amazon.com at all the NDS games. The selection was
incredibly bad for me. They're all little kiddy games and girlie games
except for COD4. I said hell no to that! I like to play real games,
not Nintendogs, Brain Age, and Zelda. Nintendo doesn't make real
games. Their games are frivolous, shallow little things that are good
for a few laughs. Seems to me that Nintendo's success is based on
making cheap stuff for parents to buy their kids without spending as
much money as for other game machines. Things made for kids tend to be
cheap and low performance. Nintendo seems to fall in line with that
product strategy.

my PSP is also collecting dust. great piece of hardware, but it only makes
sense for me to use if I'm...flying. and then, I lack the will. used to be
good for reading the news while I was taking a dump. 'til I got an iPhone.

The slim models are much much better at this. It doesn't take but 1/2 as
long now to load up.

No arguement there, but the new big stuff that is coming out is quite
good. I've enjoyed renagade squadron quite a bit.

Agreed.

*shrugs* I had a DS for a while but sold it. I should have kept it in
hind sight because there are a few old GBA I wanted to play through.
Especially some of the FF series games that arn't avialalbe for psp yet.

I couldn't get over the graphics. I guess that was just a personal choice
at the time, but I also was in the process of moving and didn't have the
time to play as much as I had in the past.
