Two primary gripes with this game.
Laura holsters her guns after a few seconds of non use. This makes it
difficult to keep an enemy under fire while trying to maneuver. So
you have to keep firing to keep the guns in action and aimed. The
programmers fix for this, apparently is to give her UNLIMITED ammo for
the pistols. WRONG!
You still have this problem with other weapons so it isn't a fix, its
a kludge. Why not let the gamer determine when the guns are hostered?
I would really like to know the programmers rationale for these two
choices. Really!, I would like to see a posting from the programmer. >> Stay informed about: Two wrongs can't make a right |

I'm sure there is an option to keep her pistols out somewhere in the control
menu? But it may only be for the PC version... >> Stay informed about: Two wrongs can't make a right |

IT's a setting in options>controls Combat Mode - Toggle
And I just now got the game installed so don't know much more about it than
that. AND, all the hooplah about NextGen graphics turning it into a

TR: L gets more things right, in general, than any of its predecessors. It's
hardly perfect but it's one hell of an improvement. I would have liked
better stealth features, being able to ambush Lara's enemies in an added
first person mode, but even the combat mode that it has is the best in the
series, IMHO. Some might say that any first person mode wouldn't be Tomb
Raider but I could live with that >> Stay informed about: Two wrongs can't make a right |

The only thing that I miss from AOD is the ability to sneak up on an
enemy for a silent kill. In Legend the sneaking is possible, but so far
(I've got as far as King Arthur's tomb) there has been no need for it.
Maybe later, maybe not.
I'm not sure Tomb Raider would be the same in first person mode, but if
it's there as an option I'll give it a try. I've not really looked at
what game options are available yet.

Well... I haven't had much time to play it yet... (and won't for a few
days) but in the PS2 version... whatever button it is when you press
down on the right joystick in the controller (R3 ?) causes her to leave
her guns out (So far anyway). I believe it is called "Accurate Aim Mode"

On the PC version, if you are in "accurate aim mode", you can't actually
move...or perhaps I am misunderstanding something here?

Same on the PS2, accurate aim (R3 button) is only good for aiming at
static objects.
There are three shooting modes listed in the options menu. Standard
seems to be the easiest, you get the auto aim and reticule thingy.
Playing with it last night in standard mode, Lara holsters the guns as
soon as the R1 (fire) button is released, so it's just a case of keeping
the button down while running around. Auto targetting takes care of
everything else.

Ouch... sorry about the slight misinformation... hadn't noticed that
yet... (haven't gotten very far yet in the few minutes I've played to
need to shoot a lot). Must have switched over to the other shooting mode
without realizing it.

there is a target mode, she does not holster her weapons if you turn
it on. The game is clearly meant to be controlled using gamepad, to
switch to/from target mode is easier using gamepad (mapped to left
trigger), IIRC it's G on keyboard but that's not very convenient...

shooting modes:
- default: she shoots in direction from camera (i.e. she shoots where
you look, auto-aim to a small degree), automatically holster weapons
when not used
- accurate aim mode (manual aim), Z on keyboard - she does not move,
you can target exactly what you want
- combat mode (target mode), G on keyboard - similar to classic TR
default, i.e. auto-aim, does not automatically holster weapons, can do
more acrobatics and some special moves

Yeah, I'm one of them.
And aside from some of the combat, and the graphics, they missed the
point entirely.
I'm not even going to list everything I think is wrong with this game
(as far as Tomb Raider goes) ... I believe I did that in another thread
just a minute ago ...
It's just sad that you think this is what its supposed to be ... it's
not. It's supposed to be *hard and grueling* ... and ok, they went a
little too far in TR2 ... but its supposed to be about the adventure and
feeling as if you're living through it! Not watching it on TV!
