Well, nobody wants to help with my FS2002 problems, so maybe its time
to consider an upgrade.
I'm a 'casual' pilot and just like to fly around looking at pretty
scenery, clouds etc.
If I get FS X how is it likely to run on my machine at the LCD
screen's res of 1280x1024? I want as much details as possible, but
wonder if you really need a dual core for that.
Win Xp Pro sp2,
FX-57 CPU
2GB Ram
New 8800GTS 512MB
TIA

You should be just fine. The Service Pack made a big difference for my
dual core and for most areas I can fly at very high (not quite max.)
settings with only a 7900 -- your 8800 should grant you even more
freedom.

Hi Sheldon,
Thanks. I've ordered the Deluxe verison from Amazon, as its only £28.
Do you know if dual core CPUs will have more effect than the graphics
card? I heared that the CPU was the biggest source of slowdown.

Good price!

Regret this I could not answer with certainty. However, you can probably
find someone smarter to reply if you post your question on the game's
primary usenet group:
alt.games.microsoft.flight-sim
They are a very helpful and knowledgeable bunch.
Happy flying!

While not state of the art now, that spec was a decent spec when FSX was
launched. You may not be able to run maxed without any slowdowns, but you
will enjoy your experience. Without Vista, you obviously aren't going to
experience DX10, but IMHO that is not a show-stopper. >> Stay informed about: FS X - worth it on my PC? |
