The worn jug contains one of the quest pieces for the
charm of lore quest. It's guarded by one of three goblin chieftains.
They should be pretty easy. They don't even summon. But they DO
cast a kind of death touch "precision strike" which goes like this:

You have been pierced by a thrown dagger!
Chieftain Whomever hits you for 8000 points of non melee damage!
Loading please wait.

Does anyone have a hint on how we might get this guy to
move long enough to loot the quest piece?

Disclaimer: I've never encountered this mob, so I'm entirely speaking
out of my hat on this one. Tony's "brute force" suggestion is
probably the most foolproof, and perhaps what the designers
intended.

Aggro with a pet to eat the DT? Perhaps also using one of the "ignore
the next X hits" spells? (Is there a spell like this for players?)
Substitute a nearby charmed mob for the pet above?
Keep him mezzed long enough to get the loot?
Can Pacify work well enough as a ghetto-mez?
Synchronized uber-nuking to one-shot him before he can hit back? Smile
Fear as ghetto-mez?
Is there anything similar to Weaponshield that would temporarily blunt
the DT?
Keep the mob stunned so it can't cast?
Bind nearby, suicide run, run back while group kites him around?
Use the 2nd veteran reward to max your resists?

Probably half of these won't work, but perhaps they will get the ball
rolling. Smile

Aggro him with someone who has more than 8k HP?

Mob is level 71, doesn't hit very hard, uses the 8k nuke every 30 seconds
or so. It's 8k + Feign Death, and the resist adjustment is -1000 so
infusion won't help much. Range is 500 as well so no hiding.

My comment I guess wasn't the 'brute force' approach but more the 'tank him
with a tank that has more than 8k hitpoints'. His melee DPS is low enough
that you'll be able to spot heal the 8k if you keep the tank pretty
healthy.

It's part of a long quest that reveals the lore in TSS and includes some
raid only drops, so it's not necessarily meant to be easy, or doable by
people who can't locate a 12k buffed tank.

One way which I have used a few times is get a cleric to pull with proximity
agro while cleric has divine barrier on and run mob away a bit.
