In the past, invisible skins were done another way - by translating the
character's location into the ground. Scenery collision detection is done
in the client, so the stuff I described CAN happen if you swap models
around. One trick I heard farmers used was to replace all the herb models
with ragnaros - dead easy to see from a distance.

You are incorrect. It all depends on what the client does with the
information. Go ahead and mess with it, but it's going to get detected. *

This periodically happens in warcraft too. Flag exploits in WSG, and
untargetable people on the roofs of gadgetzan who could still shoot you,
come to mind. *

This is not true. The client does different stuff depending on your
"skin" or model. For example, if you're playing a Tauren or Night-Elf,
the two tallest races pre-TBC (are draenei and/or blood-elves taller?)
and if you were for example wearing a big weapon, you quite often could
get into troubles entering some doors without hanging a bit in the
doorframe. This never happens to smaller chars. So there is one
difference here already. There are others and they are clearly exploits,
so I won't go into that.

You must know that in WoW, the client does a huge amount of work.
Changig certain stuff on the client does influence what can happen and
this is depending on the result, outright cheating and exploiting.
Therefor, it isn't allowed. And the client can very well hash (checksum)
the files in use and detect when you do this. It is grounds for banning,
temporary or permanent.

Don't do it if you value your account.

Movement happens on the client, and as far as I know is not validated
by the server at all. That's why speed- and teleporthacks can work,
although happily they seem to be rare (I never found someone who used
it, probably they're almost exclusively used by farmers in instances).

Dumb UI bar mod question - Does anyone know of a mod that will lock the primary action bar in one position? I don't know pre isely how I'm doing it (some mousewheel action, I think), but I don't use the function, and I'm forever finding that I've managed to roll my favourite /mos...

WoW freezes with mods when grouped - I have the following mods installed: EquipCompare 2.7 (just upgraded it to 2.8) SellValue 2.7 FastQuest 2.0 Telo's Infobar 1.4.0 PetFeedButton 1.3.8 (just upgraded it to 1.3.9) (comes with Zubanlib 0.1.2 -> upgraded to 0.2.0) PetFeedMod..

CT_Mod and a couple of problems - I use CT_Mod among a few others and I have two annoying problems with it.. Firstly I like having the bars at the bottom of the screen but I have to turn on both the blizzard bars and the CT_Mod bars or the 3rd utility bar (I.e. pet bar/druid..

installing mod - I am wanting to install the Minimap Coordinates Addon.. it came with 3 files and no instructions on how to install it. Can anyone tell me what DIR I need to put those files in? TIA
