ok so i've played the snot out of TRA, replayed TRL and have played the
others so much i could probably re-enact them.
what else is out there? i know that's a common question, but i need my
raider fix. i've played all the theif games and just about every user
level made so thief is out.
doesn't have to be some game that will stress the limits of my system,
just something fun and interesting, preferably with TR attributes.
i tried to play this one game once......it was horrible. one of those
point and click bits. yuck. some girl on a pirate ship or something.
boring as all get out. why do people play those? althought murder on
the orient express was alright.
what are some of you playing? i'm ure there must be other people around
needing a TR fix but no TR to play? >> Stay informed about: withdrawl |

Are you playing on a PC or a console and if so which console?
For PS2 it has to be ICO and Shadow of the Colossus (worth getting a PS2 for
imo).
For Xbox (the old version) Galleon and JetSetRadioFuture and Morrowind (also
on PC).
For Xbox 360 or PC Oblivion.
I don't play PC games anymore but when I did Max Payne was great and also
Mafia.

feh......i don't do consoles. playable once.
there just aren't really any good games anymore. just the same the same
the same.........shoot, dead, blood, run, jump, blah.........it's pretty
sad.
but there has to be a tomb raider of today. something that just gets
everyone's attention and makes playing a game worthwhile?
ain't there? something? there's gotta be something that you just can't
wait to play in the evening. something you think about all day because
you're stuck on a good level and think of nothing else but solving it?
i'm checkin' all the demo sites and reading reviews of new games and
they're all so ordinary. there's gotta be that one jewel in the crown

If you don't do consoles you are missing some absolute gems of games. I
took up console gaming when I realised that I couldn't keep up with the
demands of PC gaming. I have to use a laptop. So I have discovered some
wonderful games which are not all about shooting. My recommendations are
not about that except perhaps Max Payne and Mafia.
Anyway Oblivion is a game that I played for months and months and kept
dreaming about it. I loved the environment, the exploring, the adventures
and the endless possibilities. It's a game I shall return to over and over
again.

old but I love it, Urban chaos by Mucky Foot Prod (NOT urban chaos:

more action oriented then TR but very interesting, at first it just
seems like you are running around kicking butts but there are actually
optimal (easier) ways to get through each level and that's what makes
you explore everything...
amazon has few copies (no they don't pay me:-), you can download demo

Similar in age to 'Tomb Raider IV, the Last Revelation' is
'Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine',
<http://www.mobygames.com/game/indiana-jones-and-the-infernal-machine>.
It plays identical to the TR I - TR IV ( - TR V ) games and is in my opinion
just as good. ( Rip-offs back and forth, Movies <-> Games, all good. )
I've only played the DEMO of 'Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb',
<http://www.mobygames.com/game/indiana-jones-and-the-emperors-tomb>.
It's about the same age as 'TR VI, AOD' and they are probably similar in
game-play. ( I've yet to play TR V before i tackle TR VI. )
Like for the Theif-series, there are also user-made levels and scenarios for
Tomb Raider, see <http://www.larashome.com/forums/index.php?showforum=176>.
As i have unplayed official games in my bookshelf i haven't played any yet,
but i find it a little strange that there is so little talk about them in
this group.

yeah i've played both indiana jones games, and the infernal machine was
the better of the two.
i don't know if people are still making levels for TR or not. there
were some good ones but by the time i tired of playing them they were
getting really short or stupid. besides that, TR4 was one of the least
interesting games of the series and that's where all of the objects
seemed to have come from.
there are some phenomenal fan made levels for thief, though. besides
those, i highly recommend thief 1 and 2. 3 can get forgotten. besides,
there's a fan made game, as well. T2X was really very good. there's
also the dark mod being worked on. http://www.mindplaces.com/darkmod/ >> Stay informed about: withdrawl |

Drakan is fun, in my opinion. It plays well on a home LAN. Quake 2 is
an old favorite, also good on a home LAN. It doesn't need much
horsepower to run well and there are plenty of cool characters to use.
My favorite is the rocket-launcher hamster with the fez and the
sunglasses.
One can build a home LAN very cheaply these days that will run these
older games. LAN gaming is the best.
Never had much luck online gaming with dial-up.
