wide screen moniters

been thinking of getting one, in your opinion do they enhance the
gameplay just like having a regular big moniter does, or does the width
bring with it an unwanted ....I dont know, stretchy look? I havent even
seen a game played on one yet.

Depends, depends, depends.

Some games natively support a widescreen display, some can be 'forced'
through config files (such as Il-2 Sturmovik), and some just don't.

I have recently purchased a regular 19 in. LCD display; I avoided the
widescreen models because to get the same number of vertical pixels
would mean going to a 21 in. If I want to watch something in 'letterbox'
format, it's still close to the size on my old 17 in. CRT.
