I am playing Fritz 8. Or Fritz 8 on LSD, maybe.

Here's the game, playing a standard 120'/40. I'm White:

{D00: 1 d4 d5: Unusual lines} 1. d4 d5 2. Nc3 Nf6 3. Nf3 g6 4. g3 Bg7 5.
Bg2 O-O {last book move} 6. Bf4 c6 {Consolidates b5} 7. Qd2 Qb6 8. O-O-O
Na6 9. Kb1 Ne4 10. Nxe4 Nxd2 11. Bg4

What happened was after I made move Nxe4 the computer responded with
Nxd2...that's right, it took my queen with my own Knight.

But then things got weirder. Now I couldn't move the White pieces
anymore. So for the heck of it I tried moving a black piece, which it
accepted as you see in the 11th move, as a WHITE move!!

After that the colors were reversed. Black moved first.

But it gets weirder.

I had it do an analysis to see if the double move would freak it out,
but the program accepted the move as normal, as well as the following
moves with the color flip.

Then I saved the game and exited.

When I launched the program again a while later, the game itself was
different. Here are the moves as it remembers them now:

{D00: 1 d4 d5: Unusual lines} 1. d4 d5 2. Nc3 Nf6 3. Nf3 g6 4. g3 Bg7 5.
Bg2 O-O {last book move} 6. Bf4 c6 {Consolidates b5} 7. Qd2 Qb6 8. O-O-O
Na6 9. Kb1 Ne4 10. Nxe4 Nh4 11. Bb8 $4

Yep, on move 10 black's Knight jumps across the board from a6 to h4.

Really, truly. Never seen anything like this in my life....

Weird. I had an odd game against Fritz last night but I eventually
realised that I'd set it to its `assassin' personality but turned the
strength down from 1800 to 1550 (I usually play on the default
handicap personality turned down to 1550 strength). The combination
of 1550 strength and a blunder level of 1.0 meant that it could have
resigned on move 17 but kept throwing material away for another four
moves.

I've no idea what your Fritz was doing, though. LSD is a definite
possibility.

Fritz can be, um, astounding like that, sometimes.
