Hey all,

I've been OOC for a bit over a year now but have recently been
thinking i might get back into eq. I was barely playing before
cancelling my account, so most of dod/don run together for me and the
expansion that came out right after those (serpent's spine?) was the
last content i saw (there are 2 more since TSS?). None of it seemed
too thrilling, but then again, the populations had just shrunk to less
than half (wow, eq2, and then vanguard) so there was a sour, empty
ambience. So i'm curious how things are now, if they've only gotten
worse (i heard all pvp servers were condensed into one), as in ...
more servers closed, less and less people playing, etc. I know sony's
throwing out content but that's honestly the last thing i care about
presently - i'd be thrilled to re-explore the old stuff and gradually
go through (w/o spoilers) the stuff that's already in the game,
provided people are still playing. And of those playing, is it mostly
people who *like* to play? Maybe even RP a bit? If eq isn't "cool"
anymore, then maybe us true nerds can have some fun - again, provided
there are enough of us.

And for the technical stuff, i imagine the FAQ that's been so
devoutedly maintained for the last few years should be my first stop -
but that's only if i decide to try out norrath again and that's only
if you all can give me some good news about the state of the game.

Last thing - if anyone here can tell me a bit about Fennin or Firiona,
i'd love it.

Faza, Enc of FR ( / Goom, Bst of FV)

There so far has been one expansion since TSS (TBS) with a second one
scheduled for release in November.

I usually raid (Five Rings on Luclin) as opposed to solo/group, so I
can't tell you about how the grouping situation is, but if you like
raiding, we're lookng for new people Smile (shameless plug) if you want
to server transfer Smile

Well, I still play at least an hour a day. I've never been
much into raiding and mostly just see how far I can solo my main (75
necro). So the current dearth of pickup groups doesn't bother me much.
Although I've given some thought to moving a few alts to a second
account so I can rez them.

What can I say? It's still fun for me, and I get to complain
about Sony's customer service on Usenet. Can't beat that with a copper
hammer of striking.

EQ is still my favorite but I'm playing Vanguard primarily lately
because the rest of my guild likes it better. They're a bunch of
crafting shmo's so I can understand it.

The last content I saw was TSS and only minimal in that. Lot's of OOW
with some DoN thrown in. Smile

Thanks guys - that was it ... i thought maybe i logged off in a corner
of the zone that became extinct after some zone revamp, though really
that would have just plopped me in a safe spot or something. So i
removed some zonefiles and repatched, but it was those custom UI files
that did it. Logged in no problem, thanks!

And i have a new problem - my animations are all bugged like crazy.
Figured it was drivers, updated my drivers, but it wasn't that. It
reminds me of a d3d issue i had with another game, but i'm not sure
how to fix it (updating the drivers is all that i thought of doing).
What gives? I had it on a few characters, then it went away, and now i
have it again. If i sit, i seem to remain standing (though i'm
sitting, can open spellbook/camp, etc...), if i run my legs don't
move, if i spin i spin slowly slooooowly FAST FAST fast slooooooow
(etc etc). Just buggy motions all around, can't even float evenly.

Thanks much.

P.S. I'm getting the feeling there is very little room for pickup
groups, it's all raids or small niches of people. Is that right?
Should i try to revive some RL friends to have them rejoin the game,
or should i just start up a new character on a newbie-friendly server?
I'd really love to have like 3 or 4 people to play with regularly
(EST). And i might love starting an alt ^_^
