I normally play a warlock but i've recently levelled a warrior upto 20
and gone to wetlands. Now in wetlands there is a 24 crocolisk that
hangs around on the path under a bridge to get people coming past.
Fighting that resulted in death or near death. The lock has usually
been fine handling 4 or 5 levels above though. So I did some more
tests with the nearby raptors. Level 22 raptors left me with 75%
health and went down in no time. 23 raptors left me with 25% health. I
would have expected my lock to take on two 23's with possibly an add
towards the end without dieing. The lock was never as quick though
what with sending the pet in and dotting it up and that!

In addition my lock was my first and had about 50s by level 20 so was
wearing out of date quest stuff. Whereas my warrior has better stuff
from the AH as well as a few enchants i've done on myself.

I'd like to hear other peoples thoughts on this.

Different classes, different abilities, different outcomes.

Look at the warlock class, its a pet class. Pet classes are known to
be able to take on bigger challenges than non pet classes. Thats why
you hear about warlocks and hunters soloing elite mobs.

A warlock with a voidwalker, which is what most warlocks use at that
level, is like a compact 3-man team. Voidwalker tanking, and the
warlock DPS and healing. Compare that to a warrior, who is tanking
and DPS at the same time, but has no healing ability.

I know nothing about warlocks, but I'll comment... You're dual-
wielding. The base miss rate for dual-wielding is high, 25%. When you
fight mobs which are higher level than you are, your miss rate grows
even more. This means you'll make less damage. On the other hand
higher level mobs can make crushing blows against you. Lvl 23 mob has
15% chance to make a crushing blow against you. This causes 150%
damage compared to normal hit. This probably causes the big difference
compared to killing lvl 22 mobs. If you want to kill higher level mobs
than you are, you should probably use a 2H weapon or even 1H weapon
and a shield.

Yes In know what you mean there. On the lock you can send the vw in
to keep everyone busy while you do your business and run for it - if
you are lucky you can even get far enough away from the vw that you
get your shard back!

When I used to see warriors I always thought they looked strong and
powerful compared to my lock!

Perhaps I am fighting things too high. I levelled my lock generally
doing orange quests for the higher xp. I bet if I stick to things my
level I could run through the quests a lot quicker.

For me there is no question that playing the warrior was much, much
more difficult than the warlock. One good example was those orcs
in the mountains by wetlands. On the quest where you have to go
get banners and I think you need to destry some siege equipment,
I soloed this with my warlock and it was completely out of the
question on my warrior.

I did have better luck with a decent 2h sword instead of two-weapon.
My experience with warriors boils down to "the warrior is good at
getting beat on."

I think it was alisterfields RemoveThis @googlemail.com that wrote something

With melee and caster, both have greater chances of missing when
attacking higher level mobs (says resist for casters), but then melee
I found would often also be doing glancing blows while the casters
attacks would still be hitting just as hard when they do finally land.

Seems to me melee take a bigger hit to their dps when fighting orange
mobs than casters do.

Hell warriors in outlands look pathetic compated to a lock.
My fell could kill mobs solo better than a couple of warriors I saw.
OF COURSE this is because of talents and I assume they were set up
to tank instances..BUT DAMN the get F'd toooo much.

I watched one 68 warrior fighting a mob that was about that level and
I was thinking mod is dying, well maybe ok let me look mob 50% health
warrior must be on the phone or something. Warrior 50% health
mob 25% health...warrior about 40% health.. mob died...warrior sits
and snacks.

DAMN THATS NOT RIGHT

personally I really think that warriors get screwed big time and bliz
is saying oh we need more tanks...NO S@#$% !!!!
what we need is better thought on how they treat classes and take out
pvp from the balancing of builds....make pvp skills one set and pve
skills another and never the 2 will meet.
of course that would require planning and thought and work on bliz
part. NEVER HAPPEN

They can damage or they can tank, not both
sorry for ranting but warriors should be a LOT better than they are.

like you said locks and hunters get a wall to stand behind and that
wall is thick.
