Thanks. I appreciate it. I can adjust the tick rate a bit, but sadly, I
can't move closer to a greater number of players. That has always been the
biggest challenge for me running servers in my area. There aren't too many
priority fibre pipes running through the mountains of Montana <g>. Even
when I had T3 (15 meg or so asynchronous) speeds, anyone further East than
Missouri or further South than Arizona or really as far West as Oregon
always suffered high pings.
There is a spot in my State where it is a lot better. A little town called
Laurel, Montana has more fibre under it than any other individual spot in
the entire US. Level3, Qwest, AT&T, and some of the US Govt owned fibre
converge there. Sadly, Bresnan (my ISP) pipes out of our State by a
different route on a lonely AT&T pipe that isn't part of the major backbones
that converge in Laurel.
Anyway, thanks again. A few of my old friends and I still like to play a
little DM and chat on occasion. Knowing they can connect and the redirects
should work before I tell everyone the server is up was important.
Cheers!
