Well, the message stated it would take about 8 hours, and it start @
2:00Am PST, so I guess you can see why they do it at this time. I was
surprised they did this early today, they usually do this early on

which is "System Maintenance". had you read that, you may have (or not0 had

According to the link on the page that schooner referenced it was between
2am and 10am PT. Not great for me in the UK but it's understandable that

If the service is down, it's a bit hard to get ones' email saying that the
system will be down 
I hadn't played on my 360 for awhile, so it was just dumb luck that I
signed on last night to see the message just hours before the system was
going to go down for maintenance.

actually the xbox site does say it is having issues with xbox live
login and whatnot.. i keep getting on and getting kicked back off.
