I've been trying to re-install Age of Empires (Age of Kings) on my PC and it
all seems to be installing the game perfectly and it will even get to 100%
installed, but right after it hits 100% a windows error box pops up saying:
"Ebu8352 has caused in error in <unknown> Ebu8352 will now close." And I
close it and the the installer closes. When I check in my "C" drive all the
files are there and the game even starts up, but when I go to try an play it
will ask me to insert the game CD... I don't know what's wrong!!! I've tried
installing it on someone else's computer and it works perfectly, it's only
with my computer that it won't work! Can anyone help me?!!?!?!?!

Hi Alex,

Here's an article which Nick from Microsoft published awhile ago Smile

The ebu files are temporary files create for the purpose of installing games
on your system. It sounds like something is corrupting your temp files,
which could result in both the scenery read error and send error reports you
have described. Microsoft Support has a Q-Article
(http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;243287&Product=gms#
appliesto) that doesn't specifically apply to FS9, but details general ebu
errors and how to work around them. I would recommed the first two steps,
which I've included below:

To resolve this issue, use one of the following methods.

Method 1: Delete the Temp Folder After Your Perform a Clean Boot

When you start Windows with a typical startup, several programs start
automatically and run in the background. These programs may include
antivirus and system utility programs. Such programs may interfere with the
game and may cause the game to run slowly or unevenly. For additional
information about how to perform a clean boot, click the following article
number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

331796 Games: How to Perform a Clean Boot to Prevent Background Programs
from Interfering with Play

After you perform a clean boot, empty the temporary folder in Windows. To do
this, use the method that is appropriate for your system.

Microsoft Windows XP or Windows 2000
Note The temporary folder is located in each specific user folder (for
example, C:\Documents and Settings\user name\Local Settings\Temp). To empty
the Windows temporary folder, follow these steps:
Click Start, and then click Run.
In the Open box, type %temp%, and then click OK.
On the Edit menu, click Select All.
On the File menu, click Delete.
Click Yes when you receive the following message: Are you sure you want to
send these items to the Recycle Bin?

Try installing the game after doing a clean restart and emptying TEMP
folder. If the issue continues to occur, continue to the next Method

Method 2: Search for and remove the Ebu file.

Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition or Microsoft Windows 2000 or Microsoft
Windows XP
In the Search for files or folders named box, type the following line:
ebu*.exe

In the Look in box, click My Computer.
Click Search Now.
Press CTRL+A to select all files.
Press DELETE.
Confirm deletion.

Try installing the game.

Hope this helps.
