You can go a bit loopy trying to imagine a logical reason for ever
having made such a stupid decision (tiny inventory list showing with
big blocky icon in a game that is supposedly designed as visually
intensive)....or for staying with it once play testers tried it out.
And, sort by weight. Yes, that is exactly what I want to do. All the
time. Sort by weight. Or value. Has anybody ever sorted their
inventory by weight or value...other than to try it out?
The 3D engine may be more computationally intensive in Oblivion, but
the game as a whole is not really prettier. I found MW graphics
stunning. Every time I upgraded my video, I found them more stunning.
I'd walk around looking at the night sky. I'd carefully dress
characters and houses. I'd just enjoy looking at things.
Oblivion has its pretty parts. But, they aren't gasping awesome stop
and look pretty. And the inventory icons are abyssimal. I spent a lot
of time when I started trying to just figure out what those dopey
looking squiggly lines might be trying to represent. I think maybe the
funny squiggley loops you get when the cursor is over an object is
supposed to be a bag. Maybe. A bag is the best I've been able to
think of. The icons take up a huge part of the screen (compared to
MW), but are mystery little squiggles.
