I have real big problems with the big Dinosaur in TRA (Peru?). I dont know
but i cant run so fast, and he can. I v done this part now about 20 times,
but still no luck. Hes helth is prob. 80-75% and then im dead, because im
out of medikist etc. I can believe that anyone can do this, its crazy,
impossible fight. Why so hard, its no fun at all. I need help (no
savegames). I used gamepads and keyboards, nothing really helps.

You think the T-rex is hard?? He's nothing compared to the Centaurs.
Now thats hard.

Just learn how to use the adrenaline dodge and the trex is quite
straight forward.

it's pretty hard but you have to master adrenaline attack, and it's
good to learn it cause you'll need it later. There are few bosses in TRA
that are much harder to beat than the rest of the enemies/bystanders.

Not certain whether TRA is identical, but the answer in the original
was NOT to make a stand-up fight of it. (Note to America:- Firearms
aren't ALWAYS the correct answer!)

As you enter the valley, look along the right-hand valley wall for a
cave or cleft. Get in there where the TRex can't reach Lara and then,
at her leisure, pistol the bastard until it croaks.

There was another option, which I never tried or discovered, of
climbing somewhere out of reach and pistolling the big bastard from up
there.

The T. Rex? Yeah. The "rage" attack technique against him isn't that easy.
(The whole "rage" idea sucks, in my opinion, throughout the game.)

It's possible to hide behind the left corner of the right "spikey thing" in
the pair. Run as fast as you can between the two sets of spikes and jump up
in to the corner behind the right one. If you're fast enough, he won't
follow you in. Then move to the side a little until you can get the
targeting marker on him when you aim your gun by hand. Blast away. His
life-bar slowly goes down. It'll take awhile, but it works.

I think im not fast enough to hide behind the spikey thing, i tried it
several times, but everytime he got me.
As i said before to the other guy, i guess this game is really only for
young people with very fast reflexes and a very fast pc. I havent got that
so its best to do something else. Not this game.

Anyway. Thanks for the tips.

Yes, the rage attack is probably the worst part of the game. It is
possible to hide, like mentioned before, behind part of the Tori gates
type thing.
Head to the right one and just around the left corner of it. That was
the only way I could do it. I needed a saved game for the Centaurs.

I think you're right about the side-stepping.

I didn't have much trouble lining her up for jumps, though. I dunno. Just
make sure she's facing in the right direction. At least it harder to just
plain walk her off a cliff, now. Remember that, in the old TRs? I remember
being very nervous about heights in TR1. Actually got the tinglies.

Yeah. That was slightly bogus physics, of course. I remember in TR3 (I
think that was the one) jumping around a wall that way: jumping off a ledge
at an extreme angle and arcing around a wall to get to the other side (which
you weren't suppose to be able to do) -- using that "curve in flight"
capability.

And, yeah, I don't think she can do that any more -- at least not as
dramatically.

Yeah, that's what made it so much fun. Yikes! It's a long way down there
to the bottom...

Does Lara still scream if falls to her death? (A puppy has chewed through
speaker cords. No sound at the moment.)

Yes, one secret in "Mudubu (sp?) Gorge" required she use that kind of jump.
I loved the "curved" jump but to each his own I guess.

Another "negative" in possibly getting a gamepad then. No side stepping
(why not?) and no "curve" jumping either?

<as in scolding a naughty puppy>

"No! Bad programmer! *BAD* programmer! No!"

Anyway, have decided to put off TR purchase until I decide if gamepad is
good investment.

The following question then, is probably like asking "what's your favorite
color" (personal preference), but I'm taking an informal poll before I buy.

TRL or TRA better for someone getting aquinted with "next gen" games &
"gamepad" interface? Erik has said the camera angles might make TRL a
little annoying in places?

Your thoughts?

thx

IIRC there is side stepping when shooting,

on the other hand: with gamepad she can walk in any direction -
improvement over previous method (turn first then walk)

I like wireless XBOX 360 (make sure it explicitly says it works with
windows because old models where XBOX only)

prince of persia is where it's VERY annoying (I just stopped
playing), TRL is pretty good (no major complains), TRA is even better
IMO (surprised how well it actually works),

I'm on a PS2. Either game is fine for learning the new controls. I liked
them both.

I'm on a PC and use a keyboard and mouse. For the boss fights, I use the
right mouse button for dodge control (assign duck, roll, ... to right mouse
button). So I only have to press left or right while the dino approaches,
the press the right mouse button to dodge.

Be sure to have combat in "toggle" mode, so Lara will keep her guns drawn
which is needed for dodge moves.

If you're on a PC, there is a trainer, which has a great feature that speeds
up Lara. Then again, enabling one shot one kill with a trainer will eliminate
the dino with one shot (but not the large torso guy or Natla at the end).

Link to trainer (use the one with "speed toggle"):

Cool. After seeing the vid's will probably just go to nearest store & buy
the 1st one I see. Demo isn't much fun starting @ same place all the time.
