LoL! Jane's F15 (like Jane's F18) whilst possessing great avionics
modelling, I feel that both of their flight models are suspect, especially
at slow speeds during the landing phase (In fact all Jane's sims seem to
have this issue). Basically, the planes tend to bob about in in the pitch
axis which can be very off putting.
When I bought Jane's F15 (a long time ago) I could remember thinking that it
was almost exactly the same as Microprose's F15 Strike Eagle 3, it wouldn't
surprise me if the two of them shared code....
For modern day I would say Falcon 4 Allied Force (the dynamic campaign
engine is awesome - Unfortunately, you on't want to play another scripted
mission after this... ). For a WWII sim the IL2 series look good and are
probably the best at the moment.

I Like Microsoft FS 2004 It has 2 helicopters and lots of different planes
that fly very well.

LOL thats a joke, the scenery looks like cartoons, flight characteristics

EAW is a much older game and imo it is much more immersive than IL2. I don't
know what it is about the IL2 series (I have all of them), but it just seems
a very dry experience. I suspect this is down to the scripted missions.
EAW's predecessor PAW was undoubtedly very far ahead of its time and would
teach Pacific Fighters a thing or two especially with regard on how to
implement a Pacific campaign....

That's flight fo you - keeping you off center.

Funnt you mention the flight model for JF/A-18, but not for Falcon.
They seemed pretty similar to me. >> Stay informed about: Best flight sim around today |

You can get CFS 1 or 2 (maybe 3, not sure) in which you can download
about as many 3rd party airplanes. Of course modern sensor technology
is out, but then again, for most users, the strict sense of guns
killing is what they go out for. You could, in theory, marry a full
bodied civilian and hardcore mil sim, but what would be the point of
that? >> Stay informed about: Best flight sim around today |

Ditto that...starting to feel like Russian sims are like the food...feeds you
but it isnt a very pleasent experience.
But what do I know...course I do have to say that flying the Pearl Harbor
scenario I have is a bit like the Quikaction mission I designed for Su-27 but
more fun...if that is actually possible. Hmm remembering some of the online fun
we had with that mission maybe it isnt possible.

Someone recently said (on the LOMAC forum, I think) that Russian sims
reflect Russian philosophy. Russians *know* life is unfair and that they
won't be able to meet all our expectations. So they don't even try.
If you haven't got a Russian-style scowl after flying a few missions,
then you're not doing it properly.

Has FS10 been affirmatively announced yet? As for its looking amazing,
it takes more than screenshots to make a great sim. I've just
installed ACoF and I'm not quite bowled over. Don't get me wrong, It's
great to have the newest version, and some of its graphics are
spectacular, yet framereate seems pretty choppy. Admittedly, I've only
got 512mb of RAM & no graphics accel (it's a Dell with no AGP port -
I'm still debating whether to get one of those FX or Radeon PCI cards),
yet with 3 GHz under the hood, I just don't think my PC should be so
overwhelmed.
As for the great number of add-on planes - is it me, or are most
add-ons just new textures for payware add-ons? Not that this is a
killer flaw for me - I can get by on FS without every fighter, bomber,
chopper or airliner made since the end of WWII. >> Stay informed about: Best flight sim around today |

FS2004 is hugely dependent on graphics card fill-rate in heavy weather,
and the graphics engine just loves swapping textures in and out of
video memory all the time. CPU speed really doesn't matter much.
I really hope they've done a major rewrite of the engine for the new
version.

No.I have over 20 gigabytes of addons for FS2004, and only a handful
are payware or 'new textures for payware add-ons'.
