From 1998 to 2001, I wasted many hours on Quake2/3 deathmatch on the
internet. I would love to have those days back, but of course, they're
gone. Are there any games out there today that match Quake's level of
intensity, action and fun? Paritcularly a free-for-all deathmatch?
After Quake, I played Counterstrike and loved that, too, but nothing has
matched Q. Most games since then have seemed to be more like CS with more
"realism" -- which I admire -- but I think detracts from the fun level.
I don't go around buying every game, so please don't think I'm being pompous
in my defense of Q, but nothing in the 21st century has impressed me thus
far. Are there any fun, fast, crazy, wild deathmatch FPS games out there
that could hold a candle to Q and rekindle that flame? I'm bored...
Thanks in advance for any suggestions! >> Stay informed about: What is today's Quake? |

Unreal Tounament 2003 & 2004 were pretty fun. When all was said and done
however it never made it for me quite like quake games. Now I'm playing
Urban Terror 4.0, which is like CS a bit, and it is fun. IMHO nothing really
lived up to Quake 2. Not even Q3, which makes Quake 3 numero dos in my way
of thinking., running a close second to quake 2. But nothing i have seen has
ever matched quake games. But then Quake 2 was my first online gaming
experience, maybe that has a lot to do with why it's a personal favorite. I
rarely play it any more. I'm just thinking in terms of how much fun I had
back then vs. how much fun I have now. It also could be that back then it
was all new. Now it feels like it's all been done before. >> Stay informed about: What is today's Quake? |
