Post subject: question about timhost hostorder!
Archived from groups: alt>games>vga-planets (more info?)

Hello everybody,

i'm just curious about the ship building point (played v4 for a longer time
so i lost some v3 informations *gg*), anyway:

I want to know if i can use Ship build on a base the same turn i use "dmp"
to recycle old ship parts stored at my base!? Have some spare engines as i'm
federation (super refit) (i'm using VPA 3.51)

Donovans Host order say:

New minefield fcodes established
Web drain
Starbases fix or recycle ships
First build new ships
Clone ships
Super refit
Force a surrender at starbase
....
....
....
Loki second decloak
Starbase Primary Orders
Starbases build 'free' fighters
Starbases dump parts (dmp)
Mass check, repair & mkt
New natives appear
....
....
<faaaaaaaaaraway down>
....
....
Civil wars
Mines produce minerals
Trans-uranium mutation
Second ship build
Mass check, repair & mkt
Superspy / Explore

So can i use that "dmp" code, or will these code recycle my build ship parts
in use for the newly ship i wanna build?

Just remember slightly this happenend long ago as i wanna build a ship, and
used "dmp" the same turn, and these command also destroyed my build order,
no ship had been build!

Thx in advance

if the ship gets build in phase 1, the parts are still here.. is't a new
slot after a fighting/recycling etc, the parts are gone and no ship gets
build.

Depends on the smartness of the host being used Smile Tim's host recycles
everything, and then cancels the build order. So if your ship is not
being built in the first build phase, the build order is lost.

PHost explicitly excempts the parts needed by the ship build order from
"dmp"; if you want to cancel a build order, you'd have to use your
client to do that (if I recall correctly, some client/maketurn
combinations cannot do that, which is probably the reason why Tim's host
cancels build orders with "dmp").

500 ships are build..

- phase 1.. no slot free, no ship gets build

~~ ship move..(destroyed by minehit) battles etc.

- phase 2.. free ship slots and ships can be build.

....and only in phase 1, you can clone.

Before phase 1, you have Ion Storms and starbase recycle orders, which
may make a few slots available.

Nope.

HOST does
for_each_base
if (base_has_build_order() && ship_slot_free())
build();
for_each_base
if (ship_with_cln_in_orbit() && ship_slot_free())
clone();
That is, all free slots are consumed by regular building (I'm not even
sure that PBx actually has an effect on cloning).

You want
for_each_base {
if (base_hase_build_order() && ship_slot_free())
build();
else if (ship_with_cln_in_orbit() && ship_slot_free())
clone();
}
If you want PHost, you know where to find it :->
