text based game for school project

Hi, the first time im posting and also i found out about this group
today. Its my last year on high school and i have to create and
present to my teachers my project. I was thinking on making a text-
based game like ogame(http://www.ogame.org/), travian(http://
www.travian.com/) or astroempires(http://www.astroempires.com/) (for
those who dont know this games are just required to use a mouse,
keyboard to comunicate via messages to other players, and the player
interacts only with links in the website that are linked to a database
recording their current progression). Im learning php & sql, i learn
visual basic, microsoft access and microsoft frontpage i have to use
this programs in my projects my questions are:

Can i make a text-base game with this programs like ogame?

Any links i should look for more info about text-base games?

Im thinking the first thing i should do is a registration feature
where multiple players can register their accounts is this really what
i should do first?

i also know how to work in frontpage does this work on the website
creation?

Any advices or tips for this project?
