Oh, and BTW, we can also offer help as requested.

Good. Maybe there's some reason to continue living.

I downloaded empclient, because I can.

What I can't do is change the host and port, because I can't.

Is this some Nazi plot to force me to play that stupid blitz?

I'd ask nicer, but that would hurt my head and my left nut,
for reasons not fully understood that won't be expanded on here.

Are you still knocking around Alaska? How
is the weather? I guess that is why you have
more free time for Empire ...

Yep, and the weather sucks, thanks.

It's currently about 5 degrees out there, and it'll be maybe 10 below
tonight.

(That's Fahrenheit, for you commies, frenchmen and other useless
furriners.)

Summer's more than make up for it, though.

Especially now. I landed this gig at the University of Alaska,
so I get all summer off. Yip!

Hey! Thanks, I remember now.

But you forgot; I is idiot.

As in, it didn't work, and I dunno why.

It SEEMS to work. I look, and the environment variables
SAY it worked, but the client still hooks me up to Changeling.

No biggie. I can use WinACE.

Thanks for the reply though.

What version of empire client are using and where/how did you get it?

I gave it a try to make sure it is not a problem with empire client

4.3.11

I got it from the SourceForge site.

I should empasize that I am a software moron.

And I just discovered that it works fine if I run it
from within a DOS window.

If I just click the Windows icon, I get Changeling, no matter what.

So, basically, I don't care. I'll just use the DOS command window.

For future reference, this is what you would do to get it to work from
an Icon start.

Right-Click on the My Comptuer and select Properties. Select the
Advanced Tab. Press the Environment Variables button.

Add a new entry called EMPIREHOST with value sheepfarm.game-host.org
to User Variables section.
Add a new entry called EMPIREPORT with value 6666 to User Variables
section.

Alternatively, you can create a batch file to set the environment
variables before calling the empire client.
