LOL...how come you are having so many problems?
You know, the only times I have had to format with XP is when I used
the old Beta 2..back when it wasn't released...You had to format with
every new Beta and RC because you couldn't upgrade over it.
Do you know? I have about 10GB of software installed...and about 60GB
of games....When my Start menu opens up, it opens up in 4 columns and
the last one is almost filled (about 3-4 spaces to go)...so you can
imagine the amount of stuff installed on my computer....my registry
must be huge...
Plus, I have tons of stuff lying around here and there and always try
out new stuff and all...
My computer is on almost 24/7 and I play games on it, work on it, chat
on it, do everything...and it has never rebooted once without my
permission. It only reboots if I do a driver update or antivirus
update.
Not to mention the hardware...I have 2 HDDs and 2 optical
drives...plus 6 USB devices plugged in...plus the general stuff...2
ethernet cards...etc...
Never seen a conflict.
WinXP's memory management is fantastic. In earlier times, I had to
reboot after playing a heavy 3D game because everything used to slow
down. This XP computer stays on ALL the time and never runs out of
memory or crashes, etc.
I have SP1 installed and SP2 as well.
As I advised you, it is a MUST to install both of them. I know you
were unsure about them, but it is a MUST.
I formatted my laptop and like a fool, thought I would do a little
surfing with it. I connected it and BANG. I got 4 different worms
including trojan horses on my system. I had a bloody tough time, even
with Norton, trying to remove them.
It's not enough to only install SP1. You need SP2.
Let me know the specific problems you're having and I'll see if I can
help.
