You can now Teleport and Portal to Theramore, at lvl 35.

Oops, or Teleport/Portal to Stonard - I forgot about Horde, heh.

If, and only if, you're a mage, or have a mage available.
Stonard can also be teleported to by Horde.
These are, so far as I know, the only locations that can be
teleported to, but doesn't have a general use free portal in Shatt.

I know, for mages, that to learn a teleport and portal spell for a
specific location, you typically have to travel to that location and
speak to a portal trainer. Is that the same case for these new
portals?
It makes little difference for alliance, making their first trip to
Theramore I mean. No need to run through zones that are heavily in
favor of the horde.
Horde players first trip to Stonard sucks. I know a few people who
instead of running up through Darkshire and Deadwind Pass, run out of
Booty Bay and swim up the east coast.
I guess what I am asking is, can you learn the spell from any portal
or mage trainer, or do you have to travel to Stonard first and talk to
a trainer there for the spells?
Also, I was under the impression that teleports and portals are
learned at differing levels, do mages learn both the teleport and
portal at level 35, or do they have to come back later to learn the
portal? >> Stay informed about: Another teleport! |

And they removed (or altered) the trick of using the free teleport
to get from SW to Theramore to talk to Jaina Proudmore if you
never complete the quest "Return to Jaina".

Completely different on a PvP server, and got worse with TBC and
Kara. The fastest route alliance have to kara is to take the portal
from Shat to Stormwind, fly to Darkshire (I think thats the name of
the town), then ride over to Kara. That, sadly, puts a lot of level
70's traveling a road frequented by level 35ish horde players on their
way to Stonard for the first time.
So once you make it through the gankfest that is STV, you get a short
reprieve before voluntarily putting yourself out for the slaughter as
you run down the road into Deadwind pass.
Not to mention, its one of those epic long runs you have to make, most
likely without a mount. Not as bad as the first trip to Badlands
though. >> Stay informed about: Another teleport! |

I just made the run from Westfall to Stonard on my L28 troll hunter. She
only died once, and that was my fault for not paying attention in Deadwind
Pass (wrong turn). It was easy to bypass the Alliance NPCs, but I'm on a
PvE server so Alliance *players* were not a problem.
On one of my Alliance alts I thought it would be easier to swim from BB than
to carefully traverse the expanse of SoS. Those crocolisks killed me with
great frequency. Never again.

On PvP realms visiting SM / SFK with ally char is usually deadly trip. Same thing with RFK / RFD (still a bit easier since there are usually less highlvl horde around). >> Stay informed about: Another teleport! |

Meh. It was an easy trip from Theramore (and easier now with the new
mid-zone flightpath in duskwallow), and if you did run into horde on the
barrens leg, they were lower level than you anyway. I did RFD on my
alliance characters a lot when leveling them up - there's some great
midlevel gear in there, and a robe my warlock wore for 15 levels. *

You learn both from the same trainer at lvl 35. I have no horde mage,
but the alliance mage learns it in the tower, in the centre of
Theramore. I would think it's much the same for the Stonard portal
trainer.
It's a handy spell because I bloody detested having to port to
Darnassus and fly for ages just to get somewhere like Ungoro Crater. A
port to somewhere further south is really useful.
