At first, I would play only in traditional mode, thinking that windowed mode
slowed game play. Then my guild began to use Ventrilo for voice
communication and I wanted to take a fast look to see to whom the voice
belonged. So, I used windowed mode all of the time and noticed no real
problem.
Now, here is my issue. The usual appearance of windowed mode in game is one
horizontal bar at the top of my screen. BUT, sometimes another task bar is
added at the bottom of the screen and this is the PROBLEM. It blocks
important material. Camping does not clear it, nor does camping and
completely shutting off the computer nor does a patch of EQ. In the past I
have just worked around it and eventually it corrected itself. However, I
wonder if you folk have a remedy for getting rid of the bottom task bar in
the EQ windowed mode. >> Stay informed about: technical issue |

What's on this task bar? EQ has never caused any new task bars to show
up on my machine, windowed or not?

WIndowed mode should be as fast, but the caveat being that the color depth
of your desktop matches the game. >> Stay informed about: technical issue |

Not a technical solution to the issue, but I recently was given a G15
keyboard as a gift.
It has a really good Teamspeak mod which does show who's coming and going on
screen, they probably have one for Ventrilo too >> Stay informed about: technical issue |

Are you referring to the standard Windows task bar? If so, right click
on it and select Properties, and make sure "Auto-hide the taskbar" is
checked ON, and "Keep the taskbar on top of other windows" is OFF. The
bar will still show up if you move the mouse too close to the bottom of
the screen, but I usually find I can avoid having it get in my way.

Right-click on the task bar, select proerties. In the next window,
select auto hide. THe taskbar will now stay out of your way when
playing EQ.
I do suggest playing in full screen rather than windowed mode. Full
screen has better overall video performance. >> Stay informed about: technical issue |

Ugh!
The task bar is the standard Windows task bar: Start, Quicktime, Show
Desktop, Sonic MyDVD, Windows Media Player, Launch IE Browser, icons for
programs minimized, Norton, Windows Messenger, Local Area Connection, Norton
Internet Security, Time
I used these two codes and I lost the task bar in game.
But, it is gone from my browser window also. I NEED it there. How can I
get that back? >> Stay informed about: technical issue |

Magically, the curser at the bottom of the screen now will bring up the task
bar. It would not when I wrote the preceeding message. >> Stay informed about: technical issue |

I believe you. I sometimes find that moving the mouse to the bottom
of the screen does NOT bring up the task bar (i.e., when I'm trying
to get it to show up). Usually I find if I click on the desktop
background or some other window and then move back to the bottom of
the screen, I get the task bar. I guess something grabs the cursor
and you have to take the focus away from that, but I don't know what
application specifically causes the problem.
