technical question

Can anyone help me?

I've been playing Civ 3 for a few weeks. My civs never get
their special units. I play as the Greeks - no hoplites. I
play as the Romans - no legionnaries. Even though I have the
tech and resources, they just don't show up on the menu for
my cities to build. The computer's civs don't have theirs,
either. Is my software bad?

First of all: Have you upgraded to version 1.29f? If not, do so!

Make sure the "Allow civ-specific abillities" is marked when you start a new game.
