Hey all,

I understand that this sequence is supposed to be tough, but GRRRRR!
I really dislike segments in games where you have to just bend over
and take it! I just don't get how it's supposed to fun and/or
entertaining.

I've used this site for reference when I need help:

http://www.visualwalkthroughs.com/halflife2/anticitizenone2/anticitizenone2.htm

but even this guy got supremely hosed during this part (his life was
down to 15!).

I've tried using the Hoppers but other than tossing them, they don't
seem to do much good as the CP's are smart enough to avoid them.
Bastards!

Any strategies that I could try?

Well, I did it! I tried to stick close to the station in the middle
and use the health and energy stations. Running back and forth
between the two alleys exposed me to too much fire and I couldn't
patch myself up at all.

The main critique that I have with these kind of scenarios is that
it's really difficult to switch weapons correctly when the bullets are
flying. You often hit the key once too many when under fire. If the
game paused while you made your choice (like in TRON 2.0), then you
wouldn't have to flail for another weapon when the one you're using
runs dry.

Has anyone managed to make use of the Hoppers? It seems to me that
you could place them in the areas where the CP's take cover, but I
don't think the game gives you enough time to place them effectively.
Did everyone just toss them?

Even though I haven't finished the game yet, I'm already anticipating
another journey through now I'm getting the hang of certain techniques
and learning to keep an eye out for the Lambda sign!

The first time I played I started out pretty low on health and it was a
bitch to get through it.

Second time I played it wasn't so bad. When you enter the plaza be sure to
run around and pick up all the supplies that are laying around and drop
them behind the shield area so you can get to them during the firefight.
The good news is that you are shielded from 3 sides and have visibility.
Use your long range weapons, especially the crossbow, to take out the
enemies from a distance. Keep your allies alive as long as possible as
well.

I always ignore them. They are more of a hindrance than a help.

I like the hoppers, not half as much as the charges you could use for
ambushes in HL1 but they're still good fun. No, I've rarely thrown them
- too inaccurate for me, but in that part you do get enough time to lay
a couple at each side where the CP's take cover - you have to sprint
though and you can't be messing around looking for more hoppers - you
need to know where they are.

On switching weapons I always use the scroll wheel on the mouse. Takes
about an hour to get used to where each gun is and then its immediate
and instinctive. Also - watch your ammo counter - don't run dry and
never go into an area that looks like a trap without reloading

And... if the game paused in combat I wouldn't buy it. How immersive is
that?
