what are your specs? - Just curious what kind of hardware you guys are playing Oblivion on and how well it runs. Thanks.
system requirements - I see that Oblivion is out, and have read the minimum and suggested system Suggested 3 Ghz Intel Pentium 4 or processor 1 GB System RAM ATI X800 series, Nvidia GeForce 6800 series, or higher video card ..
Morrowind system requirements - I have bought the morrowind game but can barely play it due to it being so jerky and slow. I have 750mb ish of ram, 64mb graphics card, and 20GB hard disk space. It seems to meet the minimum system on the back of the case, but still barely..

Hi everyone. I was wondering if anyone had advice on my particular
system for playing Oblivion. I ask for three reasons:
1. laptop
2. not a pentium 4 (which the game specs use)
3. graphics card
Here's my specs:
Inspiron 8600 | Pentium M 2.0GHz | 15.4 WSXGA+ | 1GB RAM | 60GB HD @
7200rpm | 128MB ATI MR9600 Pro Turbo | Intel Pro 2200b/g | 24X CD-RW/DVD
Apparently my CPU is roughly equivalent to a P4 @ 4ghz, but I don't know
if that's a reliable comparison when talking about game specs. I also
don't know if my graphics card is compatible or not, since the game
specs usually are referring to desktop varieties.
Thanks. >> Stay informed about: system specs |

Tested mine for Doom 3 - above for all of them, and Doom 3 actually
plays fairly well on my system.
Fingers crossed, but I see a Gfx card purchase in my near future - CPU
and RAM are fine, but time will tell if 'comfortable above minimum' is
good enough for my Gfx card...

One possibility for this is the type of processor you are using, for
instance I have a naff old celeron 2.2GHz which the test says is only just
below recommended level. In real life it has trouble running morrowind
properly so oblivion is right out. >> Stay informed about: system specs |

Well Chris, I'm using a 2.4 GHz P4, 1Gb RAM, 256 Mb GeForfce 6600, 80 Gb +
100Gb HDD's Both @ 7200, 17" Monitor with Res set at 1024x768.
Doom 3 may be a bad example however; it WAS shipped with the highest
settings disabled, and needing a patch to enable them, supposedly due to the
rarity of systems that would run it at those settings.

Doom3 never needed a patch for that, you just have to tweak some settings in
the doomconfig.cfg file.

I stand corrected, you didn't NEED the patch, but there was one released
with that and other fixes.
