If you're just looking for fun stuff, there's deviant delight, a stack of
snowballs, and fun pets (I picked up a few frogs from the faire the other
day, for example). One really nice pet is the mechanical yeti, if you can
find an engineer that hasn't made one for themselves yet (they're unique,
so once the soulbind one, they can't make another without getting rid of it
first).
As for an event - try a treasure hunt. Pick 6 items, and the first person
who comes back with them and fills your trade window wins the prize. To set
up the treasure hunt, have an alt mail your main character a bunch of
copies of the item list (write it outside the game and then do a
copy & paste into the mailbox window), and then hand them out to each
participant when the event is ready to start. I've done two of these at
guild events, and they've been pretty popular. *
