I hope I'm not the only one that feels this way, and also hope that thru
you, my fellow readers, that I can come up with a way to vent my feelings to
Sony.

Is it just me, or is anyone else outraged that they have decided to up the
fee to $29.95/month? I only play one game in the stable... that's EQ...
I've never even checked out any of the rest of them, and have no desire to
play Vanguard...

Yet, it seems that I need to help support those that might wish to. Is it
unreasonable to think that Sony could structure their subscription rates on
a tier type basis, so that those that only play one game can pay for one
game?

Thanx for letting me vent a little... and for any ideas that you might have.

Man, I wish people would *read* the text in the patch message.

The EQ subscription is NOT changing.

The Sony All Access pass is changing and going up in cost.

If you only pay for and play EQ, there's no change.

The amazingly whack thing about the new Station Pass subscription is that
if you only play 2 games, it's cheaper to subscribe to each seperately vs.
going with the Station Pass. /boggle.

I went back and re-read what I thought I had... and still maintain that it's
seperate, and that I'm being charged 2 times...

Especially, when my bank statement shows a 14.95 charge for Sony on 2
accounts, and 29.95 to Sony on 2 accounts...

Not sure exactly how I get rid of the station accounts without screwing up
my EQ subscriptions, which I had thought all along were the same thing,
since I was using the "new" knowledge base for answers to other questions by
"signing in" with my Station accounts.

So, it seems that I'm actually "stupid" enough to be paying $43+ a month on
each account to be able to play EQ and /petition.

Any less than acerbic comments? Suggestions? Obviously, I haven't had the
extensive background with this game that some here have, so I don't have a
clue as to how to get rid of my Station accounts(if not needed to play game
and petition).

This sounds like you actually have *4* accounts... 2 EQ only accounts,
and 2 Station Passes.

Well, first thing to do is try to figure out which EQ account(s) you
are actually using. I don't play EQ anymore but if it's anything like
WoW, there's some way to go from the game launcher to account
management.

If you are really lucky, the accounts that you play are just the 2
EQ-only ones, and you can just drop the station passes.

Way back when WoW came out, I had an account for playing EQ and EQ2.
It was probably a Station Pass or the equivalent. Anyway, at one
point I decided to stop playing EQ and change the account type from
Station Pass to EQ2 only. At that time, the only way to do it was to
cancel my Station Pass, let it expire, then reactivate it as a single
game account.

I'm suspecting they've changed it and you can now change account
types, because that made it way too easy to drop EQ2 completely when I
got hooked on WoW.

Good luck straightening out your accounts.

I might also add that if you just recently "upgraded" both accounts to
Station Access, then you go billed for both Station Access fees in full.
In other words, there is no way to just upgrade accounts to Station
Access. If you are charged the $14.95 for each on the first of the
month, for example, and decide on the third to change them to Station
Access, you will be charged the full $29.95 for each account at that
time (and your new monthly billing date will be the third from that
point forward), thereby losing any value from your payments on the
first. They do not pro-rate your previous charges. That is, unless they
have changed it within the past six months or so. I actually spoke with
a CSR on the phone and confirmed this at one point.

yes i know why are they raising the rates just for EQ?
i play this game alot and all this will do is discourage peeps from playing
and we will lose even more players.
i have a lvl 66 shaman and i want to keep playing to reach all the aas and
levels i can.. but with people on limited income, this makes it very hard.

Exactly.

Your shift key is stuck. And you're incorrect.

The only price announcement there has been said:
"We want to give you some important information regarding your Station Access
subscription. Effective April 2, 2007, the new monthly subscription rate will
be US$29.99 per month (not including applicable taxes)."

I just checked the station store, and the billing options are:
1-month ......... $14.99 (plus tax, if applicable)
3-month ......... $41.97 (plus tax, if applicable)
6-month ......... $77.94 (plus tax, if applicable)
12-month ......... $143.88 (plus tax, if applicable)
24-month ......... $199.95 (plus tax, if applicable)

Station Access Subscription
Effective April 2, 2007, the monthly subscription rate will be $29.99 USD
(plus tax and value-added taxes, as applicable.)
1 month ......... $24.99 (plus tax, if applicable)

The price of EQ is not changing anytime soon. If you think otherwise, please
provide a link to the source.

Well, it's hard to parse patrick's diatribe, but I think he's full
of it? I just went to check my subscription page. I went to the
"change subscription" page, and was shown:

EverQuest Subscription
[various prices starting at $14.99 per month, $41.97 for 3 months, etc.]

Station Access Subscription
Effective April 2, 2007, the monthly subscription rate will be $29.99 USD
(plus tax and value-added taxes, as applicable.)
[checkbox to subscribe at current price of $24.99]

So, in short, the current subscription page on Sony's site shows
$24.99 for Station Access, clearly marked as rising to $29.99 in
April, and the prices for just EQ are still $14.99/mo (or less if
you buy a longer block), with no mention of a price increase to
$21.99 or anything else.
