Not that anyone cares...
And yes, I know it's freaking short, but I somehow can't find time for
it ATM. I've some more in the line, but that's not final yet.

***

A rat ran across the deserted village square. When it crossed the
middle it froze. Something was different. It pushed its small pink
nose high into the air, but everything smelled the way it always did.
Carefully it continued its way. It vanished in a small cleft between
two buldings where the shadow was especially thick. There it knew, it
would be safe.
A short squeak signalled the rest of the village's rat
population that the cleft was not safe after all. Something was there.
The something enjoyed dinner without taking its big yellow
eyes off the door across the square. That door was what it was here
for, not some rat; although it was certainly grateful for that bonus.
It had just finished meal as the door opened and a small
figure appeared. Laiva hesitated a moment, but than closed the door
behind her and hurried towards the road into the woods.
A few moments later the shadow became lighter and more
substantial, until a gray sheme emerged from it. The wolf bathed its
dark gray fur in the light of the full moon, the thin silver line
around its the neck shining almost like a silver necklace. In its
mouth was an envelope, with some red spots on it now. He shoved under
the door the girl had come from, then trotted down the road she had
taken.

So Mynor is just following orders Sad I thought he really liked the girl!

The blood is from the rat right? Not from a courier that Mynor
intercepted the envelope from Wink

Guessed it would be from the rat <g>

How did you arrive at that conclusion?! I'm seriously confused...

Well, you never know... it would *certainly* make the story more
interesting.

So I did. Until now. Nothing that can't be changed, though.

Anyway, corrections of spelling, expression and interpunctation would be
appreciated.

I thought there weren't any, but what are 'buldings'?
And 'but than closed the door'? (then)
and 'He shoved under the door the girl had come from'. Must be a very
flat Mynor then ;-D

Well.. Mynor is protecting Laiva because the organization that he is a
part of knows something about Laiva and she is very important to them
(in the future). So they assign Mynor as a body guard who can't speak
with her (she would find out with a humanoid protector) but who is very
skilled in keeping her safe (and earning her trust).

The fact that 'they' allow Laiva to get in so much peril hint to the
fact that she is very special indeed and is supposed to be able to take
care of herself 'if the legend is true'.

If Laiva gets herself killed, oh well, guess she wasn't the 'chosen one'
after all Smile 'we'll just wait an other million years for the prophecy
to come true'

hope this makes sense,
Thomas

Hm... somehow that line of plot seems familiar. Anyway, I still don't
get how you arrived at the conclusion that there's an organization that
sent Mynor...
Care to go a little bit more into detail?

It is an old and ancient organisation that pre-dates the current regimes
in Laiva-world. Hence the part with the books in the library (hope I am
not confusing stories). Laiva doesn't know it, but she is special and
the hope of the old regime to restore their power in Laiva-world again
and get rid of the baddies at the same time.

Mynor is a wolf who maybe was an elf once. Or he choose this shape
because he is a druid that can shape-shift into a wolf and he likes
being a wolf. Being a wolf allows him to stay close to Laiva and protect
the 'hope of the ancient order'. And maybe also guide her and set things
in motion that will help fulfill the prophesy.

So there!

Interesting. You want to continue writing it?

I have this 'gift' that I can see things for what they really are. Not
sure how to name it. It is not telepathy because I am usually smarter
than the people I use it on Smile I can see the implications of their
actions when they don't. I like to call it 'true vision' though I
probably nicked that from the Constantine movie.

I saw the mess that Iraq left coming before it happened in spring 2002.
Should have become a journalist I guess. Probably would have gotten
myself killed in the process <eg>

I guess you're right. Those nonsense spellings I tend to produce are
quite unique.

You do? BTW you didn't get everything right.

Constantine? The roman emporer? What has *he* to do with that?

Well, large parts of the world did see *that* one coming...

Maybe. Unfortunately they don't have much use for that kind of people in
the military. Putting some intelligence behind military intelligence
would probably ruin their... erm, what was that word again... sieve!
Reputation, I mean.
