You have to capture a large percentage of a small msrket. You'll need
anchor products that have broad appeal.

I'd be willing to consider it, for a reasonable amount split among the
group. I don't think what I'd be willing to pay would cover the cost of
the place, though.

It might be best to try out a more formalized gaming location, make that more an event than a place. Like a Con to try out the concept in the area, you know, like your business hours are monthly at first, then weekly, then maybe own up to a daily time slot.

Same here. There used to be many game stores in the early 80's. Now
there are just two in the entire county, and both of them have gaming
areas for rent. I don't know why one of them is still going, since it
is clearly a rental business, but the other one survives because the
owner of the business also owns the building housing the game shop, and
it's paid for, so he has no rent--just the usual property taxes. >> Stay informed about: Can one start the FLGS? |

I wonder if it would help to be closed one day a week. We have a local
comic/game store (emphasis more on the comics, admittedly) which is only
open Tuesday-Sunday. They've been open for at least ten years, and I think
even more than that.

I don't know if it was an official DCI sanctioned game, but I've seen M:TG
players on ESPN2. And I was just channel flipping and don't usually watch
that channel, so unless it was a total fluke they must be on more than
once...
