Playing around with some possible character/race combos for the
progression servers launch, I've noticed that some very key spells are
missing; spells that were added to the game after release.
Funny thing is, for the most part, they were added for balance or to add
functionality to the lowbie end of the game, and often will be
meaningless to people at the top of the level cap when the progression
server opens up the expansion that held them.
I'm thinking spells like the HOT line for clerics, like the lowbie stuns
for paladins... its going to be a different game without them. Perhaps
that will be balanced by the fact that melee will be in pisspoor gear.
And it is "old school" without requiring any additional work on the part
of the developers.
Anyway, I wondered if someone had already "invented the wheel" on this,
and compiled a list of which spells will not be attainable without Kunark+
I also wonder about Tomes; are they available anywhere in the "old
world"? I've only seen Berserker ones in either Ogguk or Kaladim. >> Stay informed about: What spells won't be on Progression at start? |

i seem to remember eq.crgaming having a list of spells by class that
included "era" as a field, so that you could see at a glance (and maybe even
sort, but probably not without exporting all the data - they're not *that*
handy over there) which spells are attributed where
my biggest problem will be determining which spells are kunark era for
levels under 50

Well, for example, Breeze was introduced with Kunark, but is currently
available on a vendor in the EC Tunnel. I don't know if that means it
will be in the Progressive servers or not. >> Stay informed about: What spells won't be on Progression at start? |

I think I read in the transcript of one of the recent "town hall"
developers chats that some spells will be available that are from other
expansions. I think breeze was one of them. I don't have access to
the EQ site at the moment, so can't double check that right now.

Yep, I just went and checked this, the majority of tomes, including Throw
Stone and Focussed Will are there. This will be a pain in a world without
POK travel, of course, and is an advantage to races starting in
Freeport/Neriak, as they won't have to run the gauntlet to get to them.
IF they are still there, of course. >> Stay informed about: What spells won't be on Progression at start? |

I ran the gauntlet with my barbarian shaman from Halas to Oasis at level
9, it's really not that hard, particularly not for a seasoned player
who actually knows the route. Newer players who are clueless about how
to get around the old fashioned way would likely have a problem.
