My laptop is 2 years old, so I'm not sure if it will run well with NWN2.
It's hard to figure the specs since I have a Pentium M processor. Here
we go:

Pentium M 2ghz (equivalent to around P4 4ghz?)
1gb RAM
128mb ati radeon

So how does that sound? I'm most unsure about the graphics card, because
I don't think the recommendations list a specific size (although minimum
is 128).

John, you'll need to post the model number of the ati radeon for
someone to comment on. The rest sounds OK.

My laptop's vid card technically also fits under the description "128mb
ati radeon" - but closer inspection shows that it's an integrated
chipset by ATI (ATI 200x, with 128mb system memory allocated to
graphics) - mine is adequate for NWN but definitely will not handle
NWN2 well.

really? i've heard that the M chip runs about 1.5x faster than P4, so it
would at least be around 3.5ghz with that estimate...if nothing else, i
didn't expect it to be the same 2ghz

more likely equivalent to around a P4 2GHz, with some use you get better
performance because the 2Mb cache on the chip, let's say, like a 2.8Ghz p4

nope, if you look the benchmark in the previous post you will see that the
pentium M 2ghz is slower than the p4 3.2ghz
and in some test slower than a p4 1.8ghz .

Cpu used in laptop usualy are slower than the ones used on desktop, just
because they need to use less power and make the battery live longer this is
whatthey are born for. This doesn't mean that the pentium m is not good, but
just that is not the same as a pentium4 cpu.
You can't put the same cpu used on a desktop in a laptop and expect to have
the same performance, there is a reason why on the desktop cpu there is a
huge thermal cooler and the power supply is nowaday around 500watt
