Hi!

I have soundcard which support 5.1 sounds (front left and right, middle,
read left and right and subwoofer). I think I saw early versions of UT2004'2
ut2004.ini a line where to tell how many speakers you have, and then I
changed the value from default 2 to 6. But there is no more that kind of
line and I cannot remember where to put if there are..

Now I ask is there any line to tell 5.1 sounds support? I am using Unreal
Tournament 2004 on my Windows XP (SP2/ 32bit version) and UT2004 is the
latest 3369 version. Sound card is Sound Blaster X-fi Fatality.

I'm pretty sure that UT uses your Windows speaker configuration, so if
you have your speaker configuration set to 5.1 in Control Panel then
you should be set.

Outside of that you have a few in-game settings under the "Audio" tab
that can affect the quality of sound. For the best sound, use "H/W 3D
+ EAX" and un-check "System Driver". But, that has a tendency to
break voice communications. If in-game voice comm is important to
you, then the best setting is "3D Audio" and put a check by "System
Driver".

I have one new game, Flat Out 2 (car with rally) and its setup settings have
value to set 5.1 sounds. Becouse this information I start to remember my old
ut2004.ini file and some 'speakers=6' value. But this new 3369 do not have
this kind of value anywhere. Hope I do not remember wrong or remember others
games ini file..

Till now voice communications is not important for me. I have installed
Sound Blasters special driver version to my UT2004. There comes some new
sounds when sound card is in 'game mode'.

I tested those drivers but decided not to use them. It's an
interesting concept but I didn't get much value from them.
