What do u think about sniper simulation in AA or OFP? is it realistic,?
I m watching a movie, "Enemy at the gates" ( i think COD is ispired by that)
about a russian sniper in Stalingrad during WWII: they hit a man jumping
from building to building :-O...shooting an enemy running is hard for me, in
these games of course!
Any "real" sniper or deer hunter here?Smile

Sometimes I amaze myself at some of the hits I get in the game. Its
weird how good I have gotten at the deflection thing or shooting ahead
of enemys as they are running and even hit some targets as they were
running thru some bushes and my view was obscured and I guessed where
they would be and still hit them. somehow I feel though this talent
wouldnt transfer over into real life if I ever took up target shooting.

I kinda liked enemy at the gates but I think I really only liked it for
that one scene when rachel weiz character first comes in and takes off
her hat and all that beautiful hair cascaded down that beautiful yet
dirty face.

I can mange some pretty good shots in Arma, allowing for bullet drop and
a moving target at 8-900 metres. Not sure how realistic it is, but the
fact that you have bullet drop is enough for me, windage as well would
just be a pain.....

What a shame Hollywood added the romantic interest, as that part wasn't
based on fact

By Frenchman Guy Sajer, served in the GrossDeutschland Division on the
Russian Front, although like Sven Hassel I understand some people have
questioned the truth of his story it's still a great read.

I think that it is really cool that they put bullet lag time into the game,
so if something is running then you have to lead them, but there is no
bullet drop in the game. And that isnt too realistic. I know I have taken
some very very long shots before with the game and made them because all I
had to do was put my crosshairs on the target. Granted there is no way for
you to read wind, so it would be unfair to incorporate that, but rockets
drop alot along their flight path, so why don't bullets?

Open your eyes and try again! Bullet drop are implemented in both OFP
and Armed Assault and wind is rumored to come in a future Armed
Assault patch Wink

There's bullet drop in AA, if you haven't noticed it I can only imagine
you're shooting from less than 300 metres or so.

Yes, bullet drop is in OFP. You can really notice it with the M21. It can
sometimes be confusing to tell with other sniper rifles though.
I believe that the gun sights can get messed up. Not sure if that is a
damage calculation or just differences. When I have picked them up in
battle, the sight is not always properly aligned. You have to figure out the
difference and aim accordingly. Often times, I find I have to aim lower and
right or left of the crosshair depending on where the bullets are striking.
