silver bow/dwarven bow

In the course of adventuring my character has found both of these. The
dwarven is much more expensive than the silver but the stats say they do
equal damage (4). Is there any difference between them or any inherant
advantage of one over the other and, if so, how do I find out? For example
is the silver better for killing the undead, does the dwarven shoot further
etc.

When you have higher skill, the dwarven will do more damage. However,
the silver one can hit ethereal beings like ghosts, will-o-wisps and
liches. Unless you've installed some mod that changes things, they
should shoot exactly the same distance.
