really enjoying the new versoin...

recalled back from 700ft...after having drank salt water so weak with hunger.
Made it to the general store but...stepped into the doorway and nothing.
Wouldnt let me in.

I dont have odd options like stores closed or anything.

Am i missing something (i have no doubt that i am)

In general since i play warriors i would say this is much tougher. I am not a
great nor a terrible player but seem to spend A LOT of time blind, afraid or
both. There seems little that one can do about the blindness since the spell
casters seem to cast a lot more than in V (?). Of course CCW helps but in the
early game these can be expensive.

treasure wise i think its fine.

Balance wise for warriors i think it is harder than V. This is no bad thing (and
i only talk early to mid levels).

Those huge open plan levels are tough but really cool features i think.

ANyway...really curious to know what happened with the store...

Variant? Clearly not V, but your subject just says "shop oddness and
some observations". But it sounds like O (or maybe S).

Google does get it right in the thread navigation panel, and in the
options. It's just the headers in the main page that are screwed up.

I dunno, I haven't played that much O.

Do you use !Heroism? That cures fear, and more importantly, it gives
you a huge leg up in difficult battles. Your AC goes up by 10, and
your to hit bonus goes up by 10. So fighting bullroarer or brodda or
whatever goes from being scary to being easy. Later on, things don't
get easy, but you still need all the help you can get.

For blindness, use CSW early, it's cheaper. And get to a depth where
you can afford CCW. If it's darkhounds, just fight it out with the
blinders, then rest. And try to avoid them completely, if you can.

Entering a store is actually, IIRC, a two-turn process. First you move
onto the store entrance, and then you enter the store. If something
"disturbs" you between the first and the second, the second doesn't
happen. I would guess that you can do the second step manually. IIRC,
the command is '_' (I've run into the same behavior, but in my case I
just waited out the poison and then entered the shop).

The "disturb" behavior may be unique to [O], or it may be that I've
never tried to enter a store while poisoned in [V]...
