OK, the purpose of today's patch was to allow the new expansion
to move to beta. But if the new expansion isn't in beta what are they
patching te servers with? Does this mean they're installing pre-beta
code so they can start the beta of the new expansion???

Oh, lol, ok, so they're installing pre beta code of

No, it was to allow the in-game card game (Legends of Norrath) to go
into beta.
