Ok, here I go again making another lame topic but it's my excuse to talk
about RE lol. So what I wanna know is, which part (or parts) in any RE
game, gave you the biggest fright? Lol, for myself, it would have to be
from RE2 when playing as Leon. When that cutscene occurs (in the
beginning of the police station), you see the 'licker' approach from the
ceiling all covered in blood and drool? (ooh still gives me the creeps) I
remember the first time I saw that 'thing' I got the BIGGEST fright and
ran straight back to where I came from! I turned off the game, calmed
myself down (and turned the light back on) and plucked up the courage to
face it hahaha...talk about scardy cat! >> Stay informed about: How scared did U get? |

The first time I jumped at RE was when I encountered my first prone
zombie in the original. I nearly dropped the pad when he suddenly
grabbed Jill's leg!
Oh, and seeing a crimson head thundering towards me in REmake usually
makes me turf my loons...
Biggest fright in RE2 for me? Getting on the bloody train lift with
only a shotgun with 5 rounds and a handgun, only to be unexpectedly
confronted by Mr Birkin (and yes I did knock him out, but it took a lot
of 9mm).
The only other Survival Horror that's made me jump is Project Zero
(Fatal Frame). I opened a door and there was a ghost stood on the
other side. I jumped, as did my ex!

I think my first real fright was the first time I played RE on my
(future) ex's Playstation, walking down the corridor, pushing aside
cabinets looking for ammo or whatnot (not sure what possessed me to do
that, since it was the first time I'd played), when suddenly, the dog
burst through the window. The sound of the breaking glass was so
jarring, and then there's a bloody dog attacking...Make me jump outta my
skin.
But the scariest, I think, was when I was playing the RE4 demo I'd
picked up for reserving the game...and I encountered the Chainsaw Maniac
the first time. I had no clue what I was doing, of course, so I ran
right into the building with the shotgun (not that I knew there was a
shotgun there), followed by villagers. I heard the chainsaw, but wasn't
really worried...until Leon's head went flying! I couldn't play the
demo again for two days after that, and the sound of a real chainsaw
still gives me shivers.
Yeah, I know, I'm a wimp. >> Stay informed about: How scared did U get? |

I wouldn't say fright exactly, but the balcony drop in the Police
station library in RE2 made me jump about 15 feet in the air.
General other spooky moments are:
1. RE1 - The first Hunter fight. I knew they were kind of
tough but just wasn't expecting the bastard to jump slash me.
2. RE:make - Heading down the corridor to get to the plant room and
seeing the silhouettes of the zombies outside. You just *know* what's
going to happen next, but it did freak me out.
3. RE2 - Mr. X turning up un-announced whenever he felt like it.
Blatant T2 parody, but hey, I think it worked quite well.
4. RE3 - Running into Nemesis on my last visit to the trolley to get
the hell out of there. I thought it was odd as I'd left him in the
press office.
I know my choices are pretty lame btw )
Cheers,
Rob

Can't believe I forgot *that* one.
Funny story: Logically, Jill can unlock some doors much earlier than
Chris can due to her bobby-pin (No sword key in other words), so I
decided to explore that part of the mansion earlier than is possible
than him.
Seeing as Jill and Chris' games aren't too dissimilar I can't believe I
got ambushed by those sodding dogs again!

Biohazard games have never been scary for me, the thing that drew me was the
pure emotion put into the games. I remember playing on the PS1, and getting
the best ending with chris and rebbeca, and being in near tears that barry
was;nt there(after playing as jill before) and in 2 when claires utters
those final words, "I have to find my brother"(by the way, biohazard 2 is
still the best in the series) 3 and CV had their moments, but 4 had one of
the best moments, i had only known mike for a few minutes, but i was still
shouting at the screen when he died (good job i live alon, shouting Mike
look out at 3am wouldnt make me popular) >> Stay informed about: How scared did U get? |

Going off the subject, Project Zero is another scary game too, I hated the
part in the beginning of the game where the cutscene shows you a ghost
wandering the corridor...ewww talk about freaky. I remember watching my
bf play it and me being too scared to go to sleep without a
cuddle...awwwww how babyish of me!! >> Stay informed about: How scared did U get? |

Oh my gosh I so forgot about the crimson heads Wulf hahaha! Talk about my
first encounter with them, when I first played REmake, I had no idea that
the crimson heads existed. When I first saw them, I ran for my life! I
was too scared to go back and kill it, my brother was having a good laugh
at me freaking the hell out, I felt like a little child who first saw
Santa Claus! There are so many parts in all the RE games that made me
freak...wot about the music for Nemesis? Once I heard that music, I knew
I was in for the beating of my life!! >> Stay informed about: How scared did U get? |

Waaaay back in the day, when I first started playing RE on the
Playstation, I had no clue what I was doing or what to expect. My
brother (who had actually bought the game for me) laughed his butt off
every time I got killed (which was quite frequently). Of course, then
he'd take the controller and play the same scenes, doing so much better
than I did (helps when you know what to expect). Unfortunately, we both
got stuck when we ran out of doors we could open and didn't know how to
find any keys. Finally, we went online and downloaded a walkthrough. I
know, I'm a wimp.
So that started a tradition for us. When I got RE2, we played as long
as we could, until we just couldn't figure out what to do next, then
looked for a walkthrough. Same with RE3. I don't think I even bothered
looking for a walkthrough of Survivor until after I'd finished the game
once or twice, and then just so I could figure out if I'd missed anything.
However, when learned that RE4 would only be available on the Gamecube
(I'd skipped CV, REmake, and Zero altogether at that point), and I
played a demo at a game store, I knew I had to have it. So I got myself
a Cube, reserved RE4, and got the demo. And got my butt royally kicked
many, many times (to this day, I've never been able to complete the
demo, I always die in the village). But I also found the Pure Evil
two-pack for a good price, and being curious (not to mention getting
psyched up for 4), I bought it and popped the REmake into the Cube.
And got my butt royally kicked many, many times. It became very quickly
clear that they hadn't simply improved the graphics, they'd changed the
game entirely. I had no idea (I hadn't discovered newsgroups and such
yet), and was lost. So I found yet another walkthrough, which is how I
learned about the Crimson-head zombies (I hadn't even gotten far enough
into the game to encounter one yet, that's how wimpy I am). And I
learned that they not only get back up after you kill them, they *RUN AT
YOU!* So I was expecting it, even tried to prevent it by burning every
body I came across (whether I'd killed it or not). In fact, now that I
think of it, the first one I encountered actually jumped up and dove at
me while I was trying to light him on fire!
My brother also bought me 3, when it first came out (he's such a cool
guy, why hasn't any woman managed to snag him yet?). The music indeed
set the mood perfectly, but the thing I remember most about the first
time we played was that the announcer in the very beginning (when you
press start) didn't say, "Resident Evil...THREE!" (the way he'd said,
"Resident Evil...TWO!" at the start of RE2). Every time we re-started,
we kept expecting it, and it threw us off when it didn't happen. Okay,
not a scary moment at all, just a disconcerting one. >> Stay informed about: How scared did U get? |

How scared?
The very first encounter with the very first zombie in RE remake. It took me
an hour just to baby step Chris around the long dinning hall table to begin
with (the music had my heart pounding), then I stepped into the first hall.
I was already in a state of panic before I got into that hall, and after the
cut scene I flipped. I emptied every bullet I had into him, promptly ran
back into the dining hall, and stood there waiting for it to chase me in
there. I waited for over an hour, sweating and shaking, then finally got the
courage to go back out into the hall. I'd figured if it hadn't chased me by
now it never would. Imagine my surprise when I stepped into that hall ...
That was my first ever RE experience, zombie encounter, and zombie
re-encounter. An RE fan was born.

I knew about them after hearing them mentioned on here, but wasn't
expecting the first one to jump up when I tried to burn him. He gets up
as you go past anyway (To get one of the keys, I think it's that armour
corridor, west wing).
What I really wasn't expecting was to go through a door and get
sandwiched between one of them (His offset position changes) and normal
zombie. Still love the noise too )
I'm just wondering where RE goes after RE4. It seems odd that some of
the monsters in RE0 and RE:make didn't make a re-appearance.
Cheers,
Rob

Aside from the Chainsaw guy (he has a name?), I don't think I was ever
really frightened in RE4. Startled a few times, tense often, but not
really scared. I'm not sure why. Maybe the lack of the undead element?

Oh dear me, Silent 4...now that game gave me nightmares alright! I totally
loved that game but I got stuck, I haven't played it in such a long time,
I've forgotten where I got up to, I think it was trying to find the key
for the very last room. I haven't played the other Silent Hills but yeh,
part 4 is pretty freaky, I've got the Xbox version.
Anyway, I hear that RE5 will take off from RE4 so sorry Wulf, I don't
think we'll be seeing those brain dead zombies ever again..only if we want
to play the old RE games. Besides RE4, the other RE games really freaked
me out...just imagine being in a creepy old mansion by yourself, not
knowing whats around the corner only to be suprized by a huge, blood
drooling zombie? Even worse, a hunter? Oh yeh, and having a stupid
handgun, 1 spray can and an extra 15 bullets to get by...now that's
insane!
Like you Wulf, the Chainsaw Maniacs are pretty much the one's I tend to
run away from, I remember when I first encountered them in the village I
was like "oh yeh right he can't hurt me", before you know it, all you see
is Leon's head being decapitated lol. Oh but the chainsaw brothers in
mercs, everytime I see them all you can hear from my mouth is "run, run,
run, run"...telling whoever I'm using to run when yet, I'm the one
controlling them hahaha! I've had so many 'classic scary moments' with
RE, I guess I don't have enough fingers to count how many! >> Stay informed about: How scared did U get? |
