Boah!

Have you seen the new speed-dependent sensor profile for fighter wings
in the log files? Set to a speed of 90 my wing reports a sensor
profile of 3400. A wing with zero speed reports a sensor profile of
1600, that's double the previous amount.

Yes, the sensor profile of moving wings are indeed pretty high.

At last it makes sense to buy the ET for obscuring those wings a
little bit! Smile

Maybe divide the final sensor profile of a wing by 2 or 4 ?
Wing being smaller and making less "noise".

A wing should be less visible than a ship.

i agree a wing should be less visible than a ship. but larger wings
should be more visible than say a wing of 10

wings have mass, and visibility should be at least equal to that of
ship mass.

example maxim is 10 mass, so a 100 count wing should have about the
same visibility as a maxim.

a virgo has a mass of 1850 so a wing of similar size should have a
similar sensor profle.

this way if i wanted to avoid detection as a wing. i would build
smaller wings.. thus not needing the expensive ET.

under the current configuration. a wing of 10 fighters is has the
exact same visibility as a wing of 10000 fighters.

why i might notice of a wing of 10000 coming at me as it blots out the
radar. i would think a small wing of 1 should be easier to slip under
the radar.

and its not like this occurs very often anyhow, wings are already
penalized by not having large movement speeds( with few exceptions)
or large enough fuel tanks to move at max speed for more than 1
turn( with a few exceptions) . so radar detection of these wings is
quite possibly less improtant to conceal with an ET as the wings when
flying solo do not have the mobility of ships. and concealing them by
docking them to ships is far easier than paying the ET and praying for
the mobiity to keep them advancing.

which all of a sudden has given me an idea for wings.

ill blurt it out.:
a scav racial ability could be a that a wing should be able to
disguise itself to a radar as a wreckage pod. could be kinda cool to
have a scav wing waiting near an ended battle in disguise. awaiting an
ambush. or heck it could be a racial benefit for any race, but its got
some merit. as many movies have done similar things with smaller
shuttlecraft and or ships/wings posing as debris. (falcon in starwars
floats away as garbage) (the raptors hiding in asteroid fields as the
cylon fleets pass by) the same thing occurs in space above and beyond
and the movie wing commander.) perhaps theres some way this can
emilaute that tactic with wings of one or more of the races.

No new (free) ability for Scav please, they need a town down, if you
want to swap ability sure, the wing wreck pod for the minefield
immunities.

actually scavs would be a poor choice for that ability, as scavs
typically consume wreckage pods to thier planets. and one not being
consumed(scrapped) would stick out like a sore thumb. perhaps another
race could pick this up. one with deceptive ambush qualities. UA birds
stormers rebels, etc?
