All my myst 4 saved games are gone, map is empty.

I know that they are in that map, but the map was empty. And i know that
C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Myst IV -Revelation\save\ never contained any
files.

So i mean the map:
my documents\myst4-revalation savegames
was really empty. I even did a search for .m4s files already before you
mentioned it (i have a brain you know ).

I think that myst4 emptied the save map when i showed someone how the game
begins and let him see the first movie (only showed him that first movie
after that movie i left the game). I didnt realise then that it cleared the
whole save game contence. Better is to backup save game folder everytime i
stop the game.
btw running xp too.

I have started a new game and ran the video. I quit without saving - all my
old save files were still there.
I repeated this but saved the new game before quitting - my old saves were
still there.
There must be some other reason for your files being erased.
I agree it's always a good idea to keep a backup.

Just reading this message and not able to verify what I am saying this
moment, but
isn't the 'my documents' folder different for every windows-user?
so, you are 'logging on' with the same user account?

Ok, you said you searched for the files, so you should have found them
anyway...
you searched your whole disk, right? -- *having* a brain doesn't say
anything

Last thing you could try is running some sort of undelete tool (and drinking
two or three magic luck potions).
Too bad there aren't any free undelete tools as far as I know.
