save games for tr7

I am stuck at a point where I have to complete a series of jumps to get
something done in TR7 (what a suprise right?)
At any rate, whenever I go to reload a save game it puts me back to 2
check poins ago and it's getting pretty frustrating because I end up
having to do the WHOLE sequence over again rather than just the second
half.
I've tried saving immediately after the desired check point and that
isn't working either...frankly it's beginning to piss me off quite a
bit. I don't much mind the repetitiveness in the game, but not being
able to save my progress during the more difficult parts is pretty
aggrivating.
Anyone have any good suggestions (besides tossing the game into the
circular file)

Which level I'm on I don't suppose makes much difference so there isn't
really a need to post a spoiler.

Lemme guess: The Nepal snappy-offy icicle jump sequence?
It's actually quite easy once Lara gets into the groove.
