I'm not sure what your question is. Both Sacrifice as well as Smite are
combat skills. They cannot, therefore, both be active at the same time.
Beyond that, Sacrifice and Smite do not synergize in any way.
So... Could you perhaps rephrase your question?

Well, Thanks Patrick. That about covered it. I read the guides and
most say to max sacrifice on zealot/smiters.. I assumed that the
sacrifice synergised with the weapon attack, and that would help kill
regular monsters. I couldn't understand why I would want points in
sacrifice rather then in Smite in attacking either the clone or the
ubers. I can zeal the heck out of monsters with a few points in
sacrifice, but I'm drawn to put more points in Smite, now.
Thanks again. >> Stay informed about: does sacrifice add damage to the smite / sheild attack? |

Yes, Sacrifice synergizes with Zeal, and actually adds more damage per
hard point to Zeal than more points in Zeal do. Of course, more points in
Zeal do add an AR bonus which Sacrifice doesn't add.

If you want to build a cheap Uber-Smiter, Smite is the way to go, but in
order to level that Paladin up, some points in Zeal would be nice, since
Smite isn't exactly the best of the crowd-control skills, while Zeal is
more than excellent at doing just that...
Google around a bit (or this group): plenty of very useful Smiter builds
have been posted here and there...

Smite damage works as follows, assuming you have a grief (which is the only
item in the game with a +DAM modifier (not +max or +min))
(Shield Base + Holy Shield bonus + Grief bonus) * (1 + Smite %ED bonus + STR
%ED bonus + Fanaticism %ED bonus + off-weapon %ED bonus) = Total damage
This comes directly from the executable.

No, it isn't. Astreon's Iron Ward, The Redeemer, and Stonecrusher(I think
that's the name, it's the unique legendary mallet that's not Schaeffer's)
have the same +DAM modifier. That's why pre-Grief, Astreon's Iron Ward was
considered THE smiter weapon of choice, high +DAM, high speed, and +skills
too. >> Stay informed about: does sacrifice add damage to the smite / sheild attack? |

Forgotten about Stone Crusher, Astreon's Iron Ward and The Redeemer have
you?

Or you can read this, and a lot more about Smite, at:

(long link, might wrap)

Yeah, but they are minor compared to the 400 from the grief. Also,
grief in a PB, combined with max fanat means you need NO other IAS
anywhere to max max FPA. I sold my gear from my last ladder smiter,
DiegoDeLaVega for overr 2000 FG, which for NL gear is an enormous
amount.

True, but you did say Gried was the ONLY one that added damage, I was just
pointing out that there's 3 others too. Not as good, but still.

Yeah, very conventient that. I use Grief PB for normal play, only use Grief
zerk for dueling barbs(ww'ing with axes or cbs can outrange pb, but not
zerk, hah). >> Stay informed about: does sacrifice add damage to the smite / sheild attack? |

Yeah, for PvP, the zerker is better. For PvM, the PB is better, as it
doesn't require a trip to town every 4 minutes to repair it

Aye, would be nice. I suppose if you carry your cube in your inventory you
can always leave it stocked with a couple of orts for "on the fly" repairs
without going to town, but still a hassle...
