Hello everybody,

just formatted my system partition but my planets 4 folder has been saved on
another partition ... is there a way to use the old installation without
reinstallation???

I mainly ask that as i lost my reg informations, but have a valid key
installed into those excisting folder Wink

Error is:

Runtime Error "339":
Component 'mci32.ocx' not correctly registered: file is missing or invalid

There is a pack of files available for Winplan to avoid reinstall (you can
find @ rcworld -> ressoure Center V3)

Is there such a pack for V4, or anyone has any other hints that could help?

Thx in advance!

Mydgard

Just make sure you don't delete the key file (v4regkey.dat, I think).
As long as that file is in the directory, you will have a registered
copy.

Additionally, just send Tim an e-mail asking for your Reg code again.
He will e-mail it to you.

I would install planets normally.

Than I would copy over my backup planets dir over the new install.

Everything should work 100% with no data losse.

Also make sure to read.

When I upgraded my computer, I had no problems just dropping my old
install over the top of the new one -- except when it came to hosting
pre-existing games.

I moved Planets to a different partition on the new system, but the
host was still looking in D for the appropriate on-going game files
(even after I changed every available game and host setting to point to
H Drive).

Fortunately, sticking a mirror installation in D Drive solved the
problem.

For thus you need to edit the game.dat in your univ directory. The path of
the yig file is stored there in plain text. You can change it (e.g. with
notepad.exe) and host will look after your game in the dir you put in there.
I don't know wheather the length of the game.dat is important but I would
preserve it or test it and make a backup before.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind for future reference.
