Well? I just now got the full game installed (7.2 gigs) and set it to
1024x768 with everything on except DOF. NextGen stuff enabled. Runs fine.
I'll close a bunch of these other programs and try it in 1280 and SLI

me obviously - though you haven't pointed me in the direction of how to
find my frame rate! I have run everything enabled and so far- it hasn't
crashed once I did notice that for the first 30 seconds she seems to run
slow then gather her wits Why would that be?

I have no idea yet. but people have been complaining about it being a
slide show even with a 7800GTX512. I have now run it in 1280x1024 at 75 hz
with everything enabled except DOF (don't like the look of that), NOT in
SLI, and it plays very well. It has the occasional hitch with loading
stuff, can see it with HD activity. I did have other stuff running also.
I'd have to run Fraps to see any specifics. So far, its apparently easier
on my system than FEAR is or even HL2 Lost Coast with all the goodies on.
This is in XP Pro x64, btw.

Possibly it's literally settin up the swap file. It's organizing its cache
of stuff to load. sort of a pre-pre load perhaps? We will have to use a
tool like fraps to check this thing for specifics. they didn't give us
anything external to play with.
I was expecting the worst in it, and got quite nice, actually. The game
does look very good with next gen enabled. there are some, well, anomalies.
Laras feet don't go all the way down to the rocks she's standing on, things
like that.
Google for and get the latest version of Fraps, run it, use its hotkeys to
get screenshots OR vids of your gameplay (swan dive, hint hint!). It
should also record some stastistics of in-game stuff for you. Will be
looking for command line paramaters that do 'stuff'

I can't enable it, is it strictly for nvidia cards?
it looks pretty good using ATI 9800 Pro in 1280x1024, everything
enabled, I think it looks a bit better then demo but maybe that's just
my imagination (e.g. the vines looked a bit pixelated in demo, look
normal in game, I'll have to check it again)

It works for ATI, too. It's not enabled if your card doesn't support

If you have depth of field enabled, then disable that. That does weird
stuff with misaligned colors.
the models in game are improved with next gen, also texture detail is
increased making the world look very nice indeed. More particle and
lighting effects are evident.
Playing the game, that's one thing. Playing WITH the game, that's another.
I did dl a 'game complete unlock' to open up stuff in the manor. Some
stuff is really a challenge, like the obstacle course swimming pool room!
this is something they really should have allowed full access to from
the beginning, as it's helpful for training. I've found it great for
practicing moves, learning how to do some of them, and getting comfortable
with using the keyboard/mouse, and being effective with them.
The pelican xbox360 controller is not working as there are no drivers that
work with it. It's identical to the MS xbox360 controller and may be the
same one with different branding. XP x64 and 32 both see it and start the
new hardware wizard. neither accept any driver I've found that are supposed
to work with the pelican. Or is that piligan? I wouldn't mind trying
it, if it'd work!
I've gotten Lara to do a lot of the running floor routine gymnastics.
Pretty cool. There is one idle anim I haven't seen in the demo or full
game: the side lean leg stretches. That was the very first 3D Lara vid
too. It was the first thing EIDOS showed us of Legends Lara.
I got swan dive, swimming, including a brief bit of something like a breast
stroke, much nicer (and faster progress) than the normal 'beaver stroke'.
I've got pole dancing, climbing and jumping, locked-on flips and rolls. but
Lara still just goes where The Path takes her. Cannot just arbitrarily go
clambering around looking at stuff. AoD's invisible walls are everywhere.
But, all things said and done, it's still quite a bit of fun.
And that's just in the manor

I learned the hard way with TR1 and Quake, ya GOT to be able to SEE what's
going on in there! My LCD's just do 1280x1024, and that can look pretty
darn good with all the goodies going. DOF didn't enhance the looks.
Everything else did
