Post subject: rope arrows? Archived from groups: alt>games>thief-dark-project (more info?)

So, after this much time has passed since T  S, has anyone been able to
create or modify game files for fan missions that could include rope
arrows?
(I still can't believe they did that. The very first level, you enter
the front door of the castle and look up.........wooden beams galore!
There's wood all over the place! Through the whole game, wood wood wood
and not a rope arrow to be used!) >> Stay informed about: rope arrows? |

Ah, but they gave us those "rock climbing" gloves.
They should have left well enough alone.

Agree. if they are going to put wooden beams, then why not rope arrows.

People did some really cool new things with T2 missions, so I had hoped
they had goofed with T  S as well. >> Stay informed about: rope arrows? |

Don't believe it got any further than discussion.
Most people that do FMs prefer T2 over T3
and are doing more skins and textures for that. >> Stay informed about: rope arrows? |

They used a different engine. Maybe they couldn't do rope arrows because the
engine wasn't built with a thief-like game in mind, where you have a
character hanging in mid-air not attached to a solid object. With "climbing
gloves" the character is still attached to a solid object, just vertical
instead of horizontal. Maybe????
