Post subject: Any recommendations for an Adventure game for a husband and wife to play?
Archived from groups: comp>sys>ibm>pc>games>adventure (more info?)

Hi,

We played through the Gabrial Knight series way back when and loved
them. Also both Syberias. We play together on my PC. My wife is
better with the puzzles than I and I am better with the controls so it
turns out to be a good time together.

Any recommendations for an adventure game that the both of us can
enjoy together? My PC is not state of the art any more but can still
handle most of anything thrown at it.

We also just got an Nintendo Wii.

I just ordered the last Sherlock Holmes game ("Awakening"). Maybe we
will have fun with that.

Thanks!

-paulw

Ha! Have you been peeping into our home? My wife and I play adventures in
exactly the same way. I'll do the navigating and she is good in solving
puzzles.
Suggestions: Runaway 1 and 2; The Black Mirror; NiBiRu; Barrow Hill; Secret
files:Tunguska; Agatha Christie series; Ankh 1 and 2.
Maybe there will be more suggestions from other readers?
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all. I hope there will be a lot of
adventuring coming up in 2008!
Ciao, E-Cie.

If you can find them around, you might like Keepsake, Black Mirror,
Tunguska, Nibiru. Aura I and Aura II (I liked the first one better). I
played Sherlock Holmes "Silver Earring" but didn't care much for it, but you
might like it. I haven't played Awakening so can't comment. I played "And
then there were None" from Agatha Christie stories. It was OK. You might
like it if you like a bit of a mystery story. I too loved Gabriel Knight
series of games and Syberia I and II. I haven't liked many games as good as
them since, though I liked Keepsake a lot.

Mary, you are right; I've completely forgotten about Keepsake. I especially
liked the unique hint system in this game.

The hint system was terrific. Not many games have in-game hint systems, and
even less games have hint systems as good as Keepsake.

Thanks everyone. Am not seeing any good reviews of these games, at
least at Gamespot.

I bought Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened, and also Destination: Treasure
Island. Hopefully we will enjoy them.

Thanks!

I usually check www.gameboomers.com
http://www.adventuregamers.com/reviews.php and www.justadventure.com first
for reviews and other information. Gamespot seems to be more focussed on all
game genres.

Don't look for adventure game reviews on general gaming sites. They
aren't reliable at all. Check websites that are created by and for
adventure gamers.

http://www.justadventure.com/Reviews.shtm
http://www.gameboomers.com/reviews.html
http://www.quandaryland.com (seems to be down at the moment)
http://mysterymanor.net/conservatory.htm
http://adventuregamers.com/reviews.php

and I'm sure you can find others. Be sure to read the review and don't
just glance at the grade.

The problem, in case you're curious, is advertising dollars drive
reviews at commercial sites.

Please take off your pants or I won't read your e-mail.
I will not, no matter how "good" the deal, patronise any business which sends
unsolicited commercial e-mail or that advertises in discussion newsgroups.

But how much better can a 4.5 out of 10 review get any better
regardless of the reviewer? Most of the reviews were from players at
Gamespot, not the person paid (?) to review the game.

Thanks everybody for that list of adventure gaming sites!

Happy New Year! I just got Sherlock Holmes: Awakening and may give it
a shot before bed (before the ball drops in the East Smile

When you finish The Awakened, it would be interesting to know what you
thought of it
