Personally, I read every word of it, both for the information and to
feel more immersed in the game. Of course, now that I'm redoing the
Tauren starting zone, I'm just accepting them without reading because I
already read them before.
But I was reading about an add-on that allowed you to turn in multiple
"hand in" quests at once, and it said the only downside was you couldn't
read the NPC's response to each hand in, then it said "that is, if you
read the quest text", implying that not everyone does.
Then one time in the game someone asked how to complete a quest (where
something was, etc.) and like four people (including me) responded
simultaneously "it's in the quest" and the guy was like "oh, i guess i
should read that then"
It boggles my mind that people don't read the quests, but I guess that's
a part of just trying to level as fast as you can (although it seems you
have to read it, if for no other reason than to know what to do!).
Skipping the text when you're repeating quests is no big deal, I'm sure
everyone does that, but does anyone actually not read any of it at all?
I even read all the "turn in" dialogue before clicking "complete". >> Stay informed about: Do you read all the quest text? |

This is more for the repeatable rep type quests. For example turning
in runecloth, AV bits, commendations from AQ gates etc etc etc and
really makes things easy. Kinda like the "create all" button from
professions.
I tend to read what/how many/where of each quest because tbh the lore/
RP aspect of WoW just doesn't interest me all that much. I dont
remember that I even read them on my first character. Once in awhile
I'll notice an interesting quest and follow the whole chain but its
rare. Particularly since I'm working on my 6th decent level alliance
character. When he gets past 60 it'll be better! >> Stay informed about: Do you read all the quest text? |

I SO agree with this!
> If I'm in the Wetlands I'll take total low-level strangers to Loch Modan.
I recently took a Level 1 (!) from Menethil to Iron Forge (I was only
about lvl 18 or so..). Oh god, the aggro pull!! It was horrible.
I did manage to save his butt twice but he must have got killed at
least 5 or 6 times going through the Wetlands. I didn't realize how
far out that aggro from a Level 1 would reach. Yuch! And then it
turned out he was on a trial account so I couldn't even give him any
potions. I often wonder what became of him... >> Stay informed about: Do you read all the quest text? |

Something else that does not seem to be mentioned very often (or at
all): Have you noticed how well edited the dialogues are? Very, very
few grammatical and/or spelling mistakes (in fact, I can't remember
the last time I saw one).
Continuity also seems excellent; story line and conversations are at a
high level; 'local' dialect among different races and classes is also
well done. There are so many games out there where this facet is
shoddily done or completely ignored.
Whoever is doing the editing for WoW deserves a Big Gold Star (and a
raise but I doubt that I can help with that). >> Stay informed about: Do you read all the quest text? |

I always read the quest text. I find the information interesting.
When my sub expired a month ago, I took some time off, and when I came
back I vowed to take my time, not dash off to the AH every second for
"better equip", rush through every quest just to get the XP, etc. I
don't need to be 60/70; it's not a race. If I'm in the Wetlands I'll
take total low-level strangers to Loch Modan. If I'm mining somewhere
that my char hadn't levelled, I'll pick up some gray quests just for
the heck of it. Just stop rushing, and take my time . . . including
reading quest text. I'm certainly enjoying the game a lot more.

i have to add, and there's nothing wrong with those that do this, but
i try not to "cheat"using thottbott and i never heard of/used
alakazham.
i play to escape. part of my enjoyment in escaping is the immersion.
to take away the immersion (by "cheating") takes away the fun and
escape and next thing i know, game over, i win.
it's bad enough i feel rushed to get to 40 to get my mount i try to
take my time and soak everything in. >> Stay informed about: Do you read all the quest text? |

Questing for me is like this:
First time, read the quest.. i only retain in my selective memory
anything related to the lore. I do this for the immersion aspect of
the game.
Then it's: OK gotta go to place and kill things. Ok.. travel to
place.... Shift Q (my binding for quest log) where am i going again?
ok got it......... almost there......... Shift Q where is it exactly
at again? ok got it.... get there and Shift Q, what do i have to
kill? ok yea...... kill THOSE things... Shift Q how many? oh yeah
forgot to Track..... track...... ok killed things. Shift Q where do i
turn it in ? ok......... get back to starting place..... Shift Q who
is it again? gah, who is THAT again? cant remember..... Thottbott ...
get coords of NPC. Oh yeah now i remember.
I've come to the point in my life where only really important things
get memorized, otherwise: garbage in, garbage right back out. >> Stay informed about: Do you read all the quest text? |

I generally read everything too, unless I'm in a rush. People don't
though. Why? You just type the name of the quest into Wowhead and it
tells you exactly what you need to get/where to go/etc.
The reason I read the quest text, though, is, not only is the
information useful, but you learn some *really* interesting WoW lore.
Very cool stuff out there (Platinum Disk quests for Uldaman and Uldum
for example). >> Stay informed about: Do you read all the quest text? |

You guys are going to love the burning crusade quests. Some of them
are garbage, but a lot of them tie into other parts of the progressive
story. I've always loved the warcraft universe and sometimes I get on
wikipedia, wowwiki and other web sites to read about the characters
and their history. I have been a fan of warcraft since 1994. I can't
stop. >> Stay informed about: Do you read all the quest text? |

Run two monitors and the world opens up and is a wonderful place. (I
love my iMac)
I do read my quest logs, but I rely on Thottbot.com etc for the
location of things because I'm too impatient to search the world

I usually read the entire quest text at some point before I complete a
quest. I find, however, if I'm in an area offering multiple quests
(especially a newbie area) I will accept them all first, then find a safe
spot to review and organize them, reading in detail to see which to do
first, and how they group together. Quite often with the lower level
quests, they are built so you are actively working on multiples at the same
time.
I was leveling a "Drano" last night, and was often dinging two levels per
set of quests, simply by consolidating efforts, and spending more time in
the field killing and collecting and less time running back and for turn
ins. Made for a fun night, as well as productive.

True, but wow...it seems faster to read the quest than to alt+tab out
and search for the quest on the internet. Yes, sometimes it's not so
obvious in the text, but mostly it is. >> Stay informed about: Do you read all the quest text? |
