I don't think putting on filter / killfile on " 5" is the best way to go ...
but I really don't have a better solution either - LOL!! >> Stay informed about: Nobody put the number "five" in the subject lines of their.. |

You can make it a little more specific. You're using T-Bird like me and
I made a filter called MI5 and added three lines:
Subject contains M
Subject contains I
Subject contains 5
With a rule that says that *all* of those three must be matched and then
to delete those messages.
It's been working fine so far *but* this may have deleted your post
about the EVGA GTS on 23rd December.. (as would your filter) so it's not
ideal.
So - if anyone has better suggestions...? >> Stay informed about: Nobody put the number "five" in the subject lines of their.. |

In Agent I use this filter
Subject: ^M.I.5
e.g. starts with M<any char>I<any char>5
which seems to work well so far >> Stay informed about: Nobody put the number "five" in the subject lines of their.. |

That sounds better. Wonder if the '^' and '.' works in T-Bird or
whether it's different characters? >> Stay informed about: Nobody put the number "five" in the subject lines of their.. |

Nope - doesn't work in T-Bird. A quick Google doesn't help on what
characters do work so I'll have to investigate when I have more time.
For now putting each letter of 'MI5 Persecution' in individual lines is
the only thing that does work without accidentally catching other posts.
It's fine until he starts changing his subject line. >> Stay informed about: Nobody put the number "five" in the subject lines of their.. |

You might also be able to use a rule to kill things crossposted to
more than X newsgroups (where X = 3, 4, 5, whatever you want to
put). That would catch other spams too.

I think you need some kind of RegEx plugin for that to work. I can't
remember what ^ means in RegEx, but . (dot) means 'any character'. I
reckon if you browsed the mozilla site, you'd find one
