Saw this brilliant castle over at MTS2 and i must have it! VERY cool i
must say.
I looked around a bit on the FAQ but did not see what i was looking
for. Where would i put a lot that i have downloaded? And then how to
locate it in my game? Under the pre-made lots i would assume.. but i
have no clue.
Thanks for any input you can give me. And sorry if it is a stupid
question LOL I've not added 3rd party lots since S1.

Cheers,
Eddie

No - use an Installer programme - either Maxis's own or Clean Installer.

Best wishes

They will come with extra stuff if the person who has made the lot is
sending out custom stuff with it but otherwise, lots on there are not
supposed to have extras in and AFAIK, they do check that out before they
publish them.

Best wishes

Winrar wouldn't help you any. It would only unzip the sims2pack file.
You'd still have to install it.

It's easy to tell. When I click on a sims2pack file it automatically opens
Clean Installer, which shows a list of the content. The bit you need is
called "lot segment for upload" or something similar. Anything else is
extras, some of which you might want for the lot to look right, but
otherwise you can untick it.

Some things give you the chance to choose where to install the file, but lot
files you can't. So really, it's hard to go wrong. Smile

I didnt think it would after you told me about CI.
I did it exactly as you and Maxon said and it worked perfectly! Very
easy peasy once i saw how to do it.
So now i am wondering if CI will also act as a zip and rar extractor?
Like the same as my win rar or win zip? I will keep both of them
anyway.. just wonder if i can use CI for all the other downloads.
Happy Friday to you Jeanie. Thanks again.

Cheers,
E.

Hi Betty!
As you may see in my reply to Jeanie.. it went off perfectly!
The Castle is gorgeous! i've only poked around in it a tiny bit to
check it out. And very late last night i created a family and put them
in it- though i may let one of my other Sims have one also (creating a
nice family takes a bit of time as you know). The grounds are really
nice.. nice garden and woodsey areas and hills and such. Will have to
make a place for a driveway somewhere.. Won't look quite right with the
Castle motif- but i am spoiled with Sims having their own cars as to
not have to take a taxi.. Unlike real life here in SF where i take a
taxi just about anywhere i go LOL Or public transit (which i loathe) ..
no one really has to drive here in SF which is one good thing about
living in a big city. Plus- i dont drive anyway.. so it works out <g>

So anyway.. the Castle.. yes. It is lovely! here is the link for it if
you care to check it out. There are several pics of it to give you an
idea.

http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=190021

Now that i got the hang on installing lots.. i have the feeling i won't
be getting much done today outside of cyber land. About to go on a
Download rampage! Attack!!! Arrrrrrr!! (Brandishes mouse in one hand
and keyboard in another in charge mode!) LOL
Oh wait.. i have to go to the grocery store.. then it is Attack!!! <bg>

Have a good one, Betty!

Cheers,
E.

I know. There are some very talented folks out there. And if i do say
so myself.. i have been quite impressed with some of my own buildings.
One called "Monkey Hill" that is mostly all wooden looking to give the
feel of a tree house. Got the idea after watching some program on adult
tree houses. I would LOVE to have one of them in RL! LOL

But for the Castle.. so far so good- but i have not actually furnished
it or played it yet. Just made a family and got them moved in. Nice
cute couple with a teenage boy and a toddler girl. The toddler
animations are one of the cutest things i have seen in the game. Really
fun to watch... and i've only had one toddler so far.. so now i have
another.

I did DL a couple of other houses are are pretty cool as well. One that
has a pool on the second story.. via building up the terrain to make it
level with the second story. And another house that is a large
apartment 4 stories up on what are just pillars i think. Very groovy
bachelor pad that one might be.

I will likely try to play the Castle some tonight.. poor Gary. Gonna
get off work on his Friday night and have to watch me mess with my
Sims. I will just put a very long movie on and make him some popcorn
and just do my own thing.

Monkey: "Here hon.. You've been wanting to watch the extended version
of The Two Towers anyway! Now's your chance!" LOL

Thats one good thing about having been together for 10 years (as of
last week- our anniversary). We can do our own thing without having the
other get bent out of shape or left out. He likes to watch me play Sims
sometimes anyway.

Have a good one, Kat!

Cheers,
E. <------- in a yakkety mood today- sorry for the ramble <bg>
