I've got Sims2 and Nightlife only. When I try to place a
driveway it first tells me "out of bounds" and the markers
are red, and it won't place it. Then I put the "moveobjects
on" cheat in play and it turns the driveway markers green
but when I click it just won't "set" it down and it moves
away with my cursor again.
I've never patched either Sims2 or Nightlife so could that
be the problem?

I have a few lots where i have put the driveway on the right.. but they
are some of the much bigger lots, otherwise they may not fit.
Some of my houses tend to end up the size of a warehouse! So i tend to
use the larger lots, naturally.

I sometimes try not to let them get too outrageously huge... but
sometimes not. Most of my Sims are spoiled and rich. They *need* that
bowling alley or disco room with arcade and bar area. Or sometimes i
make the house fairly normal but spend alot of attention on the yard
with a nice garden or pond area.. and huge pools with a statue or
fountain in the center.. sometimes a nice area with lounge chairs for
napping or relaxing in the center of the pool is fun too.
Sometimes i also just have to have that nice garage with an apartment
on top.
This last house i made i call "Monkey Hill" i am VERY proud of. It is
big without being enormous. The front of the yard is flanked on either
side with two two story hills that i have put the Giant Gorilla statue
on both of them all lit up. Sort of a guard or a sentry if you will.
When you put all the walls up and the roof on and display all floors-
it almost looks like a face kind of.. which was totally unintentional
btw.. but worked out nicely. I was thinking i may try to package it up-
which i have never done.. just so i can maybe share it with some folks.
If i take some pics.. will give you a holler if you want to see them
Jeanie. But if not no big whoop. Here after 3 or so my time i likely
won't be around til after the weekend.
Oh! Going a bit off topic here-- but yesterday we got the new Lara
Croft game for PS2.. so i know what i will be doing ALL weekend LOL.
We've played all the Tomb Raider games and this one looks pretty damn
cool i think.
Cheers,

I've heard about annexcafe i think. I will keep that in mind, thanks.
And as far as posting from google- i can't do binaries on here as far
as i know.
Anyway.. ill try to snag a few good pics and see if i cant get them
posted somewhere.
Have a good weekend Jeanie!

No - you just need to find a space that's clear enough where you can put the
driveway down. If the squares are red, something is blocking the placement.
If you use moveobjects on, you can't place the driveway at all - it just
won't let you.
I think you need to leave at least one (or possibly two) square from the
edge of the lot and you usually have to build on *your* left hand side of
the lot (as you face it) because the tail piece that covers the road has to
be within the lot boundary. The tail piece allows the cars to turn into the
drive. Hope that makes sense.
Best wishes

I had 3 spaces between the driveway and the edge of the
property, but I was trying to put it on the right side of
the house instead of the left. That may be the problem since
all of the driveways in the houses that came with Nightlife
have the driveways on the left. I'll try that and let you
know if it works.

It also has to clear the mailbox I've found, some of the small lots don't
seem to be big enough at all.

As I said, the tailpiece has to fit within the lot boundary.

I have a few lots where I can't put a driveway down no matter what. I
even tried eliminating the whole house, one object at a time, till I had
nothing but an empty lot, and it still wouldn't place the driveway.
Other houses with the same exact configuration accept a driveway with no
problem. Frustrating.

Yeah - I sometimes get the impression that individual squares get 'occupied'
by some invisible object and then, of course, you can't place anything on
them. It happens, I think, with things like stuck kicky bags or little
markers where you've told a sim to go somewhere and then cancelled the
action. The game places a destination marker on the square when you do that
and sometimes it doesn't get rid of them. Or maybe the ground is uneven and
the placement mechanism can't resolve it. You could always try,
1. levelling the land with the levelling tool
2. Pescado's lot debugger to get rid of hidden kicky bags and stuff like
that
3. Pescado's stuck object remover - this is a bit of a bugger to use since
you can't see it but you buy it from the catalogue, place it on a stuck
square and it will nuke anything resident on that square (including sims so
watch it) - handy also for the blocked fridge (though the lot debugger will
also sort that one). As long as you have identified the square that is
causing problems, you should be able to use it properly. Either that or you
could go over the entire area carefully placing it and letting it do its
job.
Best wishes
maxon

And I'm just the opposite. I try to never use a lot larger than 4x3 or
to build more than two stories because it makes my computer slow way

You can post your pictures to one of the binary groups, if you can get
them on your server. alt.binaries.games.the-sims-2 and
alt.binaries.games.thesims. There is also another server you might try,
which is free (I think -- almost sure of it since I'm using it and I
didn't pay for it). news.annexcafe.com then annexcafe.games.sims You
can post binaries there, too, and a lot of people can get that one when
they can't get the others.
